Yeah, it wasn't really a full review. It does have a large trunk and under the floor of the trunk resides a close to full size spare tire and a very large battery. Also there is an SD Card Slot for saving video from the 4 cameras on both sides and front and rear of the car. It only works with a 32GB SD memory card. These cameras record every drive you take and erase the oldest videos automatically as the SD Card gets full. Behind the right side panel is a quite large computer and electronics panel. Also the trunk has a pass thru you could use for skis or similar sized items.
I agree, this RU-vid mentions it will be used in the 2025 Cadillac, that caught my attention. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l1TGQa8GWsA.htmlsi=J0hoe7NhBh_ewtpz
Would have no one else carry my car . They delivered my Ferrari . They take great care with your car . Scary as hell watching it come off though. Nice looking vett
Wondering please when you did the LEDs in your 64 Vette..were you able to also light up the heater and defroster knobs and also the radio knobs.. I saw a photo of those knobs on Corvette forum and it was amazing to see them illuminated.!! Thanks..
Cadillac Version of the BMW N63 Engine...?!?! Last time I checked, that engine didn't do well bcz of the Hot "V" Set-up. There was even a lawsuit surrounding this engine. I'm not a fan of turbos and would always opt to a supercharger instead. But pitting 2 turbos in the cleavage of a V engine to me is not a good idea because of all that heat from not 1, but 2 turbos in close proximity.
I've had no issue with mine and the engine coolant temps always remain controlled even in S. Florida summers. My Supercharged LT4 in my Z06 on the other hand runs much hotter than the LTA.
Based on information I've read Hypereutectic Cast Pistons offer a good solution for this application. Cast pistons also offer excellent wear and thermal characteristics. This enables long ring-land and skirt life, as well as the ability to retain tighter side wall-clearances for quiet operation. While cast piston-alloys use silicon, which increases the wear resistance, durability, and thermal characteristics of the aluminum, there is a limit to how much silicon can be utilized so it is evenly distributed without large nodes of silicon forming. This level, which is called the eutectic point, is around 12 percent. Hypereutectic means pushing this level of silicon beyond the normal amount that can be simply blended into the metal. Hypereutectic aluminum will typically have between 16-18 percent silicon in the alloy. Although hypereutectic pistons are still a cast piston, the addition of this extra silicon material gives several benefits over conventional cast pistons. For starters, the piston is inherently stronger, with increased thermal characteristics, lubricity, and scuff resistance. It is also more resistant to corrosion, has more controlled expansion characteristics, and better high-temperature strength.
I owned a '13 SRX before this Traded it in with over 100K mileage, the predecessor to the XT5. The only issues I had were with the CUE Screen which I believe is not used in the XT5 so you shouldn't experience that.
I've understood they are, but never seeing another one in person in over 2 1/2 years in car crazy S. Florida makes me realize you're absolutely correct! Thanks
Really gorgeous car. I had the 2019 CT6 V8 in crystal white, not the Blackwing. I really loved it.. My husband really wanted the CT6 in the Blackwing, but as you are aware there were very limited supplies. He surprised me recently and bought me the new Blackwing CT5 in raven black. It’s smaller and drives like a magical beast. I’m enjoying it very much. I do miss the all wheel drive. The trunk does not have the automatic close when you hit that little trunk button and you must slam it down. The side rear view mirrors also do not have an automatic fold button on the remote. You must do it manually in the car before exiting. Curious question- does your car have that back window feature that has a push button and brings down a privacy screen? I really loved and miss that feature. Also does it have the privacy pull down feature for the back passenger windows? I didn’t see these in your review.
Congrats on your new CT5, great car and I'm sure it's stunning in Black Raven. Yes, mine does have the auto rear window shade controlled on the overhead console where the sunshade buttons are. As for the rear window shades they are manually operated. You actually pull them up from the door panel and the latch up just above the window on the door frame.
Beautiful car and that real blackwing engine. My concern would be support for that engine parts wise and having a technician who has some idea of how to work on it should the need arise as they're extremely rare. You could always track down Chris Dillon i suppose.
I still feel sad that GM killed the Blackwing engine. Such a powerhouse deserved to live on for many more years. With that said, even if maintenance would be a nightmare compared to the LS platform, 10/10 I'd take a CT6-V over a CT5-V Blackwing.
Thanks', I agree. The potential maintenance is scary. So far only a fuel pump control module failed and was quickly replaced. I also have an O2 sensor that failed that is on backorder. Car still runs fine but I feel fuel economy may be effected by a sensor that's stuck in a lean condition. I found the correct part online but the dealer didn't expand their search beyond the normal supply chain.
@@mjdart54 Makes sense. And if these start going bad every couple years, could be worth investing in a few spare ones? In any case, regarding the engine, has anyone done a tune to it? 550hp/640lbft is quite a lot, but still sorta...'underrated' a bit. They could probably bump that to 600-650 hp...and the torque probsbly 700-750 lbft. I just don't know if the transmission could handle it. I know Gale Banks from Banks Power owns one, and though his business is diesel engines, it surely would be nice if he started developing aftermarket parts for it. Cold air intake, tune, etc...
@@mjdart54 Perhaps a way around it can be found, just a matter of time and effort by some owners and tuners. Every lock has a key to unlock it, heheh 😆😁
Thank you Michael for this excellent video. And also your thread on Stingrayforums. This was most informative for knowing more about my upcoming building my Z06’s LT6 next spring. I have sent you a PM via Stingrayforums.
Nice review, mjdart. "Wet" Mode is actually called *Snow/Ice* Mode; it is used for slippery surfaces to help control wheel speed. While this can compromise the acceleration on dry asphalt, it is an excellent option, when required. I have a 2019 Black Raven Cadillac CT6-V with 4,367 km. (2,714 mi.) purchased new and this will be my last *good* car . . . no electric car for this boy (contingent on planes, trucks, ships, & trains, *continuing* to burn fossil fuels).
Thanks! My Z06 has wet mode so by habit I call the mode in the Caddy the same, also we don’t see ice & snow here in Florida, just wet…lol It is an excellent option, I experienced it driving on a flooded skid pad at Spring Mountain Race Track, really impressive!
I lived in St. Louis most of my life. I would often here about the poor working conditions and dreadful labor relations at the old Corvette plant. Things got so bad that someone from management could not be on the shop floor without security.
When I worked for GM (mid 70's to mid 80's) most of my time working was getting assembly lines up and running again when something failed. I responded and worked as quickly as possible to get the line up and running again which greatly pleased management. They in turn looked the other way when everything was running smoothly and I took a break. Now as your stated the working conditions could be harsh or even dangerous. Today companies look closely at safety, ergonomics, and other factors to improve working conditions which improves production.
Hey, those chrome wheels or chrome plated are wonderful, so much so that I've checked Cadillac Accessories on line to no avail!!! They had the 10 spoke ones that were chrome plated for $550. So, exactly are yours??? They really make your car stand out. If you don't mind, let me know what Cadillac dealer you purchased them from or better yet, give me the stock number for them. What did you do with your stocked 20 spokes ones. Get back to me, thanks!!!
They were installed by dealer, but listed on build sheet as Regular Production Option SHH 20" (50.8 cm) 10-Spoke alloy wheels with Polished finish. I have seen them for sale on GM accessories and also eBay. www.gmpartsoverstock.com/oem-parts/gm-20-wheels-10-spoke-polished-84506956?origin=pla&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9ZGYBhCEARIsAEUXITUeEQEoUY7iNb4oNLtcTTqUQicdZ_djf8U5OQFD6OwJGFX7kvw683saAlQuEALw_wcB www.maloufpartsxperts.com/oem-parts/gm-20-wheels-10-spoke-polished-84506956?origin=pla&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9ZGYBhCEARIsAEUXITWLvOkR4oAIYMQ2Kchr97nraL6aYjW4Bdnr3TSVlEjsHBgQQe1GOLMaAgXFEALw_wcB
Hi Mjdart, I just finished having vintage air installed on my Vette. As for the gills system; to activate it all I have to do is turn on the ignition and pull the 3 speed knob under the light rotation switch, Right????
My dream car Cadillac in the colors I desire! I envy you. Enjoy your masterpiece of the new Cadillac with the blackwing engine. Jose from New Mexico One day I’ll own a car like yours and pamper it for as long as I live.
Why did Cadillac remove the laurel wreath from around the logo? Now it looks like crap. It's ugly. It looks like Celica from the side and a Honda Civic from the front. It looks like shit!
