Well now! I am glad you had the fever yesterday! That turned out awesome! It’s sick! They all turned out great but the Coke bottle stag is just perfect!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🌶️
Love these old knives. I am always looking for them and sometimes I find some nice ones to restore. You have good stuff! (Please keep the knife still for a second to reveal its details as you show it.) Great ideas on saving these good old boys and putting them back to service. Thanks for the good content! I always learn something from you.
You did a great job on all of them . Was it hard to pin the stag on that 1st one? I've never tried that..I wish you were my neighbor, we'd get along pretty good. GOD BLESS AMERICA... stay dangerous mofos
Hey thanks Chris. The scale pins were gone on one side & pretty much gone on the other. Only way to pin scales onto the frame is to Disassemble the knife and peen on new pins! If I was Replacing Blades-I would have re-installed pins through the frame . Instead of complete disassemble. I drilled and installed pins before mounting the scales with Epoxy. The pins are thus epoxied to the frame as well as the stag. 100 years ago high tech epoxy didn’t exist . Even if I disassembled the knife to hammer in the pins. I would sill have Epoxied the scales ! The chances of the scales cracking and typical pin cracking over time is pretty much voided. The small bone German folder with the missing bone scale-still had the original pins intact and I was able to use them. Thanks Brother
Looks great, I need to send you a melon tester I have to rehandle ! Just kidding I know you don’t have time for that! But I need to do it , someone else put wood on it but it doesn’t look great. I may get brave enough to try it one day. It’s a 65 to 69 case xx . Haven’t seen very many. Thanks for the video, you have some nice specimens and do good restorations.
Thanks for sharing. Them CASE’ Melon’s are not common. Most all had food grade Plastic scales of some sort . I have just one M tester from France. Has the long blade and a smaller blade.
Absolutely, improving that formerly Ebony jack with the Stag scales was the right-&-wisest decision; and beefing up the width was very smart and practical. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks Nick. I tossed it back and forth. If both blades were pretty much full. I may have gone Ebony and made a shield. You can’t beat awesome Stag for sure. It pops this knife into a whole different realm. Thanks for sharing. Best! Dwayne
SEKI JAPAN CITY OF SWORDS Blade history: 780 years SOLINGEN GERMANY CITY OF BLADES history: 600 years just wanted to share this information for those who love shocking blade history! .
I'd put red or yellow synthetic on the shotgun shell knife. It would make it look like a real shell. Ebony on the swell center to restore it original. Try making a shield. You have the outline. Cool stuff 😎
I think you could use that Antler handle with the buttcap for a handle to a -Scottish Sgian Dubh- knife perfect size and the tappered tail of a old file would be perfect for the tang inserted in the existing hole from the cutlery blade that was probably there before . Have you ever seen a XL elephant toe folder with ivory scales ? I always thought it would be amazing to see ivory scales on a elephant toe , to me it just makes sense I guess lol. Another great video , thanks again for your awesome sharing brother .
Thanks Benjamin. I have been saving the little horn handle with the nickel silver cap to someday to make a little Dagger of sorts. I think I will take your input save it for that. Gonna use Ebony for the little shotgun knife with either brass or copper or Nickel as bolster tips
First Cold steel folder I have owned. Back in Early 90s I bought an original USA Trailmaster’ and Recon Scout . Should have kept those. This CS folder is pretty cool. Kinda CS take on the early Spyderco’ and other makers of modern Flippers that took off back in the day. -- you nailed it Bro--I just did a little research and sure looks like Camillus’ did make this Knife for Cold Steel!!!!
Awesome haul! I have a mint buck 703 from 1986 if you’re interested. Also if you want to double your money on that lakeside I’m your guy! I have a couple lakeside axe heads. Thanks for sharing brother
Hey thanks for sharing Brother. I also have 2 Lakeside Axes and a Lakeside Hatchet . Love the old Wards stuff. I have a few Old Axes stamped Wards and old pocket knives too. Best. Dwayne
Hahaha! I knew there was a joke coming somehow! 😂. Great finds for a buck. Stag always looks good. I’d be tempted to ebony for the coke bottle just because it was originally black. The tang stamp dates the Buck to 1987. Cool find. The Cattlemen kinda resembles a Copperhead pattern. Like a half canoe. Solid looking knife. Have a great evening!
Hey Brother thanks for the Info on the Buck👍 I am kinda leaning towards Ebony also to keep the original aspect! These big old turn of Century Jacks were usually Ebony Or Jigged Bone. Most were Ebony or RW.
Cool knife! I wonder how they put the logo on the blade, it looks stamped but I don't know that's it. Might also be a good candidate for a tapered tang, but then the original scales would have to go. So it would be a lot of work for a similar outcome. The brass pins look great!
Thanks Brother. The tang is either deep etched or stamped. Likely when they rolled out the Bar stock. I thought about tapering the Tang to help lighten up even more, but after removing stock from the middle. It lightened it up good. It’s a feather weight, but very stout. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the shout out my friend! I love the old celluloid knives. Cattaragus/valley falls is 20 minutes from me! I need to start getting some of them
Yes I still use a Bowie, I have the Western Bowie 49 I’ve had since 1980. Have two Buck knifes with Bowie style knifes. I owe several KBars, some older ones, 40’s 50’s and modern ones. I really like the older Bowie knifes, thanks for the history
Good review of some old jack knives, the composite plastic handle material looks well preserved/restored. Great work, and channel, liked and subscribed
