I just visited PR after 29 years. I was born in Caguas… lived my entire life in Massachusetts. Returning to the island was like “going home”. I loved everything about my time there … the people, the weather, the landscape and learning about aspects of my culture that I never knew. My Husband and I decided that we want to retire to Puerto Rico and have started a 10 year plan so that we can do so comfortably.
Hi. This video was very helpful. I am in the process of purchasing my grandparents home. I plan on buying out the other herederos. The home needs a lot of work. Because it is a home that belonged to three other family members, would I still be eligible to get a mortgage on the property for work that the home needs????
My family is from Ponce. i grew up in the states, as my father was in the US Army. I would love to live my latter years reconnecting with the culture and living a peaceful existence.... My preference would be in the mountains...
This is representative of Puerto Rico. Most agents suck and do not even follow up with an initial phone call. Is not even about family and prioritizing life but just an irresponsible attitude. Although this guy is basically honest this is an excuse since it will happen 7 days a week and not just weekends. I know I have bought homes in New York, Texas, and California over the decades and bought 2 homes in Puerto Rico. My experience was bad with the first home as well as the second home. I had to go through agents to find a minimum standard agent. How expensive were they 75000 dollars in Palma de Mar for the first home and 800000 in Condado for the second home so they were not inexpensive. Besides the buying experience, there are lots of pros in living in Puerto Rico that in my case outweigh the cons. So be ready for the worst and not the best experience unless you are buying a multi-million home in Dorado or St.Regis community where they lick your toes lol
you care about pueto rico. you and all the people need to stop selling, and only sell at the right price to the puerto rico people. its the only way to save the country or lose it to the wealthy zionist racist people. that is why castro lock down cuba.
My husband was born and raised in Puerto Rico. We live in New Jersey. My husband’s dream is to move back to Puerto Rico. We need to sell our home first. I have been to Puerto Rico many times.
Help 🤔 I'm interested in moving to Puerto Rico from USAdo.Im on disability. Are the apartment ads ligit?I want to send you info about some to check out for me.Need a professional point of view.
Josh great content! 3 yrs ago I paid my PR friend $500 to get licensed in PR and $5k for helping make a small purchase. Best decision ever, helping a long time friend and finding my dream come true... Priceless! Problem for realtors seems like there is 50,000 in PR and homes are sold on classificados. I would also recommend a very good attorney to check and transfer the title correctly, Crim takes forever with it. My friend moved back to the mainland because wages are still sadly too low to have the quality of life he wants. Really sad what teachers and police etc get paid and why corruption in a lot of areas still persist in real estate transactions too- his words.
OMG, this was so helpful! I've been here trying desperately to find a owner financing situation or non-qm and it has felt impossible. Thank you for this video!! ❤
Would you know what the average price per square foot cost for construction in Palmas Del Mar if you buy a lot on the residential end harbor lights /port road ?
Great video, my family Grandparents are from Aguadilla and that is the region that I want to look into buying a property soon. Will be going there in two weeks and will look around. Fir now im soaking up all the info I can get.
I have had 7 figures Cash for more than 10 years in the bank it hasn't come from one place hasn't gone to one place it's in stocks and bonds so how can I show it if I never had it in a traditional 401k not everyone has a retirement account
Thank you for all the advice. My paternal grandparents and mother were from PR and I am seriously considering the move. It’s very nice to hear that people appreciate those stories because I definitely feel like an outside. I am a physician assistant in the states and would love to move back and serve the community.

If your caucasian, buy a condo. If you are a Rican you can live in a house) neighborhood without hatred. If you buy and plan to flip expect to get stuck with your home for a long time, possibly years
For all the people who are about to become suckers. Not everything that glitters is gold. Many homes are not registered and dont have clean title. They owe county fines and back due utilities. You will not get help with repairs and home supplies are limited. You've been warned
If you are a mainland ir foreugn buyer looking for PR property you better watch out. Many peoole are scaming selling homes that are not registered and without real title. This is the majority of homes. Then many home have fines because of illegal structures and then yiu Will be in the hook for the fines after purchase. Then home iwners who didnt oay utilities. They may owe thousands and you are on the book if you want to get services. Not everything that glutters us gold. Mist importantly, dont expect to be able to get your home fixed. Labor is hard to find and they disappear.
I am set ring about buying property and put the Rico. My father sighed is from Puerto Rico. And I have visited there just last year for the first time. What are your recommendations
I recently returned from a 2 week trip in PR. My wife is from Puerto Rico, currently our house in Maine is set to be paid off in about 12 years, and I retire in roughly 13.5years. She wants to move back to the island, and I wouldn't mind the change, what would you advise I do other than pay off all debts, gain credit & save for a down-payment? My wife wants a house in Ocean Park area of San juan.. we stayed there last week at an airbnb on Yardley place. Gas stations, airport nearby, grocery is within a mile.. should I bother keeping an eye on the market in the area? Or wait until we are within 4 years or so?? We have dependable family and friends we can trust to either look at in our place if we are unable to see a property in a timely manner. Would you advise against a fixer upper? I see some low valued/priced properties with potential, but definitely some structural, & or cosmetic damage that could possibly be repaired m By myself, or a contractor, are structures inspected & certified before resale? I am not used to the concrete-only construction and what constitutes a condemned concrete structure? I see a lot of shoddy work, and craftsmanship versus what is required standards & code here..
Your channel was recently recommended and I am enjoying the content. I came across a video with someone named France, but her channel is empty?? Do you know if she goes by a different name or on another platform? Thank you Josh😊
Are you referring to closing costs ? People say they’re a bit higher than the states but I will say to have 2-5% of the purchase price in hand. Depends on the situation.
I would say yes but if you’re looking to integrate to the PR community it might be difficult, however there’s a lot of places and groups of people that move here and don’t speak Spanish.
I grew up half my childhood in puertorico with my dad and lived in miami with my mom. Im half Dominican/puertorican on my dads side. I graduated highschool in Moca (westside) and i loved living there, i felt very connected to my culture and my family. I lived in a apartment at 18 with a roomate in a cute apartment close to the college I went to La interamericana de aguadilla (went for a year only and moved back to miami) and paid only 500$ for rent with my college roomate at the time so 250$ the good days 😂 Anyway I moved back to Miami and finished college there because of hurricane maria (also career opportunities) and decided to graduate in miami. Now 3 years later I live in California and work at NBCUniversal for Universal pictures as a Coordinator and get paid good but the work/life balance in LA is the worsstt I miss going to the beach with my family and not stressing about work, my goal is to buy a house or condo maybe in Isabella where my favorite beach is (Jobos) or aguadilla. Life in California is expensive so im trying my best to save but anyway I think we should connect and talk more! I want to learn more about the housing market. im also fortunate that my best friend lives there and my dad/siblings do as well and are willing to help but want to learn more!
