It’s a beautiful thing when you can survive because of your skill set while performing DIY homestead projects.
My family purchased this little slice of heaven on earth about 20 years ago and have been slowly working on it ever since. We are ramping up the intensity of the projects now because we are living the RV lifestyle in our oldest Sons back yard. We are working feverishly on getting a water system built around our spring house. See the multi part spring house build series on this channel. I am pretending to be a stone Mason as I build a stone spring house over the fresh water mountain spring. Then I will have to get a shop roof put up so I can mount our solar system panels and have a dry place to put the inverter and batteries. We will still have a horse barn to build, logs to mill into lumber on our band mill, gardens to plant, cultivate and harvest. Fruit trees to care for. Pastures to build. A greenhouse to build. The list is never ending.
Absolutely! The actual build is on my old channel Using a semi trailer to build a bridge ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FxhL1R5RYi0.html There are several vids of the build process on that channel
I like the five gallon pail functioning as a splash guard for the wood and a spider blocker. Another thing you can do is limit the amount of liquid that goes down the hole. Gentlemen, pee in the woods - preferably on a rock so the critters don't lick the bark off the trees trying to get to the salt. With limited liquid it is amazing how the solids odor is lessened.
Where did you get that idea? I never said that at all. I was referring to the woke haters playing keyboard warriors when they don’t understand or are not mentally capable of living a self sustaining lifestyle. That’s all🤷🏻♂️
exactly what I needed to learn- there was a springhouse and shallow well here and it was 'filled in' by previous owner. Actually, I think he removed the rocks surrounding it to build a foundation for a barn (and not a good foundation either, that building needs to be torn down and something else built there).
Another great video with a fantastic tip. Been looking at building a stone wall on the side of my home and I am certain I would have thrown mortar in and walked away. But this simple lesson just shows how a few minutes of extra detail can really set it apart. Overall the project is coming along great. But that wall with those stairs is very clean looking.
You aint lying about safer than the city water. Now that might be changing with the PFAS standards FINALLY being updated. I am not 100% sure of our ground water around here. I know too much of it's history. Still, you're doing it a good way brother. A lot better than most.
Less is more indeed. Many years ago we were on military maneuvers. All we needed was in our Alice Packs. A stream was just a few feet away, and the mountain views were out of this world. You are ssso correct. Less is more.
@@Circlecranch977You’re very welcome, was my idea. Hope your son is safe and comes home to you soon. Was in 68-72 so I’m old man. Once a MARINE always a MARINE. Be safe and happy my friend.
@@Circlecranch977 a friend of mine also does heavy leatherwork. Makes saddles and all sorts of stuff. Your friend does very good work. Stay safe out there
Well well , now that depends on what your definition of success is doesn't it ! I reckon what he has going on looks very successful , and quit desirable ! You go ahead and get your 7.00 lattes , 5G , crowded parking structures and homeless be happy in your journey , remember we're all individuals and that's what makes us unique !
I’m sorry it made you feel that way. There’s really no reason for you to be afraid though. All he can do is run his mouth about things he obviously does not understand.
You are living the right way, i do the same and i am old school, i learned from my grandparent's and my parents who were taught to live pretty much self sufficient with what resourses you have around you!. And the fact they both survived the great depression especially by food storage. The less processed food and water that enters your body will give you a much heathier life!. I havent drank any city water since i was 18 yrs old and ill turn 68 soon!.
Agree I've came to find joy in simplicity like it was when I was a kid, can't drive Cadillac with broken back least can polish the fenders.😊 People judge success with possessions these day's often failing to see how valuable just one beautiful day is just to enjoy yourself not working for another.
Absolutely! Learn to enjoy every aspect of your life whether it’s sitting back in one of my mini pondering chairs, I have strategically located around the property or physically working on the next project. The journey is as much fun as the destination.
Hell our Government wants our 2nd Amendment! Our Government started the IRS and Federal Reserve Bank! Woodrow Wilson! Our Government is taxing we the people off the map! Our Farmers are under Attack by our Government! Better wake up America
why would you need a spring house??????/just buy a few freezers da........you old timers are so ass backwards ....the worlds not going to end the goverment not out to take over
I bet you don’t carry a spare tire in your trunk because you don’t think you will ever have a flat tire. You have obviously never tasted spring water. Because freezers require electricity and our local system is unreliable and city water is nasty tasting and full of chemicals. I am too far away from the electric grid to be worth connecting (by choice). I will have the convenience of a regular refrigerator but it will function on a solar system.
No comment on the barbwire cuz I’ve never tried it but I like the idea 👍 What I was gonna suggest is if you run a hot wire parallel with a regular fence is use your fence as a ground??? You have multiple grounds with your t posts ! I have done this and it works great and it’s cost effective. Just saying
