I have an 88 that I’ve been fixing up and I love it! My next project is getting a new fuel pump. I already did the aftermarket pump but didn’t last longer than 3-4 months so I may go oem now. As far as your radio, mine stopped playing FM stations for some reason. Everyone says to send it to Sierra but man I can’t justify $140 bucks just for FM radio stations! I wish there was a bluetooth transmitter for AM stations! No clue how to get the darn FM working, but anyway thank you for the video!
Just got an 88 gl1500. First bike, and it's one year older than I am. Excited to find your channel! I think I can learn a lot from you. Thanks for doing what you do!
Hey young man. It was so wonderful to watch your video OS. This is my second video with you. You're doing a great job with the information that you're giving. I appreciate the video on the fm convertor ... also the one with the LED headlights and I'm talking about the plan for your 97 gold wing. Enjoyed it very much. Don't worry about the negative folk. Just keep doing what you're doing. It's always pleasure to listen to you. Hope to hear from you soon. You and your wife be safe and have a great day.....I have a 1995 GL 1500 that I'm going through just like you see you soon. thx again.
A lot of info. A little too Much chatter maybe. I did learn a lot. Thanks. The turn corner lights don’t work well a driving to figure lights. They are facing the woods. So not much use to see ahead.
i just purchased one last week, its a 98 and been sitting for a few years and didn't run so I offered the guy 1k and i took it. i just got it started after cleaning the fuel system. its a handsome bike.
Clutch fluid level changes will tell you when the slave cylinder is needing some service. It can't be overstated how dangerous having brake fluid and engine oil mix is. My rebuild didn't work. I went ahead and spent 90 bucks for a NOS assembly.
Tee Wingillä pieni ajolenkki Videolla ja kerro kokemus.Aivan paras pyörä jolla olen ajannut tämä 97 wingi 1500.Jää harlikat ja jammut ja muut suki suki tsutsutsuut.
Lovely bike! I've watched about 60 or maybe 80 of these videos about the GL1200, GL1500 and GL1800. Not one video talks about the most important thing, the gear ratios. Japanese motorcycles are notorious for having way too low of gears. How are the gear ratios? Is the engine revved up way higher than necessary at 75 mph? I want to buy one of these, but I am extremely nervous about the lack of a true overdrive gear. Most people don't seem to care, but the engine RPM has a large impact on your fatigue levels, and relaxation levels when riding.
Yes, over 75 and your looking ar about 3500, 4000 rpm+ and alot more fuel is used so fuel economy goes way down at those high speeds over 70. But that's pretty much any motorcycle with 5 gears, there's no true overdrive. I've owned several bikes all pretty much the same with 5 gears. I currently have the GoldWing and a Harley Road King Classic, same issue over 70. A 6th gear helps but those are more 2007+ on Harleys and GoldWings came with a 6th gear in just more recent years. The next bike I buy, which I always by used, will definitely have 6 gears.
the nice thing about buying a goldwing... most of them have never been beaten and most have been maintained since they were owned by people that could afford to keep up with them
Mine was easy. After running a couple tanks with Seafoam and Berrymans mixed in, I adjusted the idle knob by the gas cap from 1200rpm down to 800rpm and it quit surging. Idles perfect now.
Hay brother I've watched all your videos and found most helpful, I'm needing to know in one of your videos you added a device to have Bluetooth for your stereo. Can you tell me the name of the device and where you ordered it from please. Be blessed and thanks a million
There are several different ones on amazon, here is the link for the one I have.... www.amazon.com/Handsfree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Compatible-Smartphones/dp/B01M0SFMIH?pd_rd_w=R7RPV&content-id=amzn1.sym.d3245d74-f79b-49f3-b99c-1e231bb8ca7c&pf_rd_p=d3245d74-f79b-49f3-b99c-1e231bb8ca7c&pf_rd_r=VDDH2BDAJWDH9WK8CEAH&pd_rd_wg=xaCeY&pd_rd_r=a0897afa-4b64-4287-b0c0-b264739d4c44&pd_rd_i=B01M0SFMIH&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_m_grid_dv_rp_0_8_t
I've got a 97 aspencade. With a trailer. And I got a 20/20 street glide special. And I wear my Harley stuff when I ride the Honda also ,so I understand what you mean. But you're right those bikes are super comfortable and quiet. So quiet I fell asleep on it while on the highway and ended up in the other lane.. keep up the good videos
I have ridden with a guy who has a 93 Gold Wing with 390,000 miles on it this year. I have a 98 Wing and never had a problem with carbs or anything else.
When you say 390,000 miles. What does that mean exactly? Has he only replaced the timing belt? Or is that like new valve seals, new piston rings, all new engine seals? Are the pistons and rings and valve stem seals good for 390,000 miles without taking the engine apart? I'm curious, because cars generally get bad valve stem seals, and you have to take the whole cylinder head off, and replace the valve stem seals, and usually the piston rings, at about 260,000 miles (this isn't absolutely necessary, but you can see older Honda cars that smoke a LOT from bad valve stem seals, and worn oil rings).
A very complete video. Do you have any idea what the secondary air filter is? And what type of LED lights did you put in the fog lights? Finally, you only cut one cable and that only makes the lights always stay on? Greetings.
The sub or secondary air filter is a foam filter that filters the air before it reaches the air injection solenoids, and from there the carburetors. For the cornering lights to stay on as fog lights you have to disconnect or cut the green wire on both relays that I point to. One relay works the left light and the other works the right light, but both relays are on the right side of the bike where I point to them in the video. Here are the bulbs I bought for them, one pack contains 2 bulbs - www.ebay.com/itm/165805052556
