That was a fantastic video, Pete! The sunshine, the slow-motion, the chill backing track and of course, the Kraton being as awesome as it is. Man, you're really making me want to buy one of these! You're not gonna be pulling all those backflips with a Lunch Box, are ya? Lol! Awesome stuff, pal!
Hiya Fil. Oh yeah the light up there was so nice and it makes the footage look much better. These are fantastic bashers and you are getting an awful lot for your money. It's good to have some really tough cars like this so you can save the Tamiya's for less severe bashing. Cheers for your great feedback mate. Best wishes 😁👍
awesome slo mo footage pete , Love watching videos like this . Can i ask what camera your using in this video buddy . Keep up the awesome work Chtis :)
I'm installing a ds3235pro servo with a hot racing fixed 25 t servo saver in an arrma kraton 4s v2.5 do I need to program the esc or can run it after centered and installed
Hi Pete, it looked like the car was floating through the air with the various jumps that you had planned for the Kraton to perform. Next thing you know, youll be purchasing a 6s version 😂 Much catch up soon 👍
Hi Pete! Oh yes, it does look spectacular kicking all the dirt and twigs up from the forest floor in the dappled sunlight. That shot at 1:33 with the sun streaming through in the background was awesome! Very enjoyable to watch. Hope the weekends going well, mate - happy Sunday! 😎👊🦫👍
Hiya mate. Yeah this is one of those runs that I wouldn't have bothered to video had it not been for the fantastic effect of the sun shining through the trees and dust. Really makes such a difference to these run vids. Thanks for your great feedback as ever. I hope Sunday is treating you well. I'm slightly hungover after a night out in town last night so just slobbing around. Cheers for now 😁
Hiya Dom. Yeah I wasn't really planning to take any footage but when I saw what he light was like up there I had to take some shots. Cheers for watching mate 😁👍
Great shots of the Kraton doing fun Kraton things out there! I think I am going to have to get one of these. I have been eyeing the 3s big rock for some time but I think this will be a better option and loads of fun. I just need them to run a sale on them again! Thanks for the great video Pete! The music was great and the footage was excellent!
Hiya Addam. Yeah you get a lot more for your money with the 4s cars. All metal gears and really nice big bore metal shocks. This is a version 2 with the slipper clutch but the newer one has the centre diff which is better. Definitely one you can launch and beat up. Many thanks indeed for watching mate. Best wishes to you 😁👍
Hi there. Yeah I went up there with not much intention of videoing but when I saw how it looked with the sun shining through the dust I had to get some footage. Cheers for your great feedback. Much appreciated 😁👍
I'm using the JX Ecoboost 22kg servos in my Arrma's. It is super quick and responsive and not too dear. It's from banggood. I don't know about any high end expensive ones but the JX ones seem to work well. Many thanks for watching 😁
Ooh yeah it's 40mph in the forest 😬😂 Yeah get that Holiday Buggy built but personally I wouldn't use that shell for a speed run in case you break the window posts in a roll over. Yeah bigger wheels are a good thing to up the gearing and Blitzer ones work well. Good luck with it when you do get to do a run. Cheers for your great feedback as ever and very best wishes to you 😁👍
@@PeteWylieRC And good luck to you to Sir! Yep, upping the gearing by using bigger wheels was the intention matey..... and we happen to have a set of blitzers! As for the body, I've actually done two shells..... a stunning nicely detailed box art one, and another just for the speed run! As Mr Hanky the speed run poo was our mascot for last year's poor boys rc speed challenge, it felt only right to bring him back! So, the speed run body will be a convertible holiday buggy driven by a poo! 💩 😂 Hopefully, it should go like s**t off a shovel...... and there won't be no pain if, or should I say 'when' the shell gets totally mullered! 😂 👍 👍 👍
Now this is a proper Pete wylie video!! Absolute carnage in the woods with the mighty squash van! I could almost smell the New Forest pines and Bracken ferns! 😂 The squash done extremely well for a 2wd truck..... and even had a little hill climb at the end, determined little bugger! Now that's my idea of a fun bit of crawling..... flat out throttle and plenty of brut force and ignorance! All good in the woods matey! 👍 👍 👍
Hiya James. Ah this isn't actually the New Forest but it is similar terrain. It's Ramsdown forest which is near me in Bournemouth. The Squash Van is 4wd and would probably get up those hills with some grippy tyres but the Black Foot tyres it comes with are perfect for bashing as they have a bit of slide in the bends. Yeah my hill climbing is pretty much full throttle and hope for the best 🤣 Cheers for watching mate. Best wishes 😁👍
Heck yeah you can bash the Von Squash! That intro shot slamming into the rock was epic! This truck is so much fun, it's nice to see you putting it through the paces, Pete!
Oh yeah I know that your one got a darned good thrashing. I think that the Lunchbox bumper mod is a good one to do to protect the lovely body but otherwise it's pretty tough. Cheers for watching mate. Best wishes 😁👍👍
IMPORTANT NOTE The steel spur SHOULD COME WITH ONE INCLUDED SLIPPER DISC. The most annoying thing in the world, when you order upgrades and they don't fit directly, and even worse when it is because YOU NEED MORE PARTS TO DO SO...
Nice run Pete and it sure does have some get up and go with that brushless setup in there! It was really getting it out in the grass, not much slower off road which is impressive!
Hiya Addam. Yeah 34mph on the grass is pretty respectable for a 2s Tamiya. Not sure how much more I can get on the tarmac with the rules of the contest but I'll have a go. Many thanks indeed for watching. Best wishes to you and yours 😁👍👍
Hiya. Many thanks indeed. I think that with these contests there is always someone who does something amazing and it's not usually me. Will certainly see what I can do to get a few more mph though. Many thanks indeed for your kind words. Best wishes 😁👍👍
Hey good luck with that. I think that Mark Bryan found some good fast brushed motors in the Poorboy's contest last year. Be worth having a look at what he used. Many thanks indeed for watching and hope you have a good run 😁👍👍
Hi there. Yeah a nice kit for sure. I've got the Turbo Scorpion too and that is my favourite but both very nice. Many thanks indeed for your great comments 😁👍
Yeah, Pete, great speed! That's almost 60 km/h, that's an awesome speed on a small rwd buggy! I'm looking forward to see if anyone will be doing the 22 tooth modification, I had actually not heard of that before just recently, he he...
Hi there. Yeah this is not bad for starters. Going to have a look in my spares to see what I can do to improve this. Yes will look at that 22t pinion upgrade. Many thanks indeed and good luck if you have any further attempts 😁👍
Yeah there are adaptors for the different servo spline sizes. Also have a look at the video I did about the Kimbrough servo saver. You need to modify it a bit to fit these but it is cheaper 👍👍
Hiya Pete. Well I had a nice bit of road with a long space between the speed bumps. I'm sure that we can squeeze a few more mph out of these little Tamiya's. Good luck with your future attempts. Would it be embarrassing if you won your own contest 🤔🤣🤣
@@PeteWylieRC Ha, it wouldn't be embarrassing for me if I won my own competition but obviously the prize would have to go to the next fastest DT-02 competitor 😄😆😁
Hiya Fil. Oh yeah, keeping the front wheels down is an issue on this chassis. Cheers for watching and I'm looking forward to seeing what your contest is this year 😁👍👍
@@PeteWylieRC probably have a go in the brushed class mate . probably gonna have to do it off road though 😬 and need to check my speedo still charges as it’s been ages since i used it 👍
Hi there. Yeah it does seem that 40 is achievable but beyond that with the rules of the contest I'm not sure 🤔 Many thanks indeed for watching. Much appreciated 😁👍
Hey mate, that was a bloody decent speed on the grass! A bit faster on the road shows you are limited by the gearing. I don't have a 22T pinion on that mod 8 but with my brushed motors I don't think I'll need it! Great video and a superb benchmark right there Pete. All the best - cheers! 🍻😎👌👍
Hiya mate. Yeah it's fairly flat short grass on that bit of the New Forest so not much rolling resistance. I did get 39mph from my DT-03 with the same set-up so I'm deffo going to tweak everything and have another go. With the gearing limitation it's only really wheel size and motor kv to increase speed. I thought you were going into the brushless class? I guess with those hot brushed motors you got for last year's contest you would do well there. Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you do. Cheers for watching mate 😁👍
Fantastic video Pete! Bash-tastic I should say! The footage bas beautifully clear and sharp and captured the antics of the Squash Van perfectly. One of your best edits for sure. Plus the soundtrack fitted perfectly - I think I've used that one a few times too! Take care mate! 😎👊👍
Hiya mate. Oh yeah I kept the bit rate high and rendered this in 4k as only a short vid but all about the visuals. Had a bit of luck getting a bit of sun and that location is always fun. To be honest this was just going to be incidental footage to put at the start and end of the build but there was just about enough to get a bash vid. Oh yeah I think we've probably all used that music a few times. Not many good ones in the library as you know. Cheers for your great feedback as ever mate. Best wishes to you and yours 😁👍
Hiya Andy. Yeah I do like this bash spot once it dries out a bit in 'summer'. I thought I'd give the rear steer a try on this and I really like it. It's a fun vehicle after all and not something I'd try to get round a track. Cheers for watching mate. Much appreciated 😁👍
Oh yes this is running with a brushless set and 2s lipo. Quite a bit quicker than with the stock motor. Many thanks indeed for watching. Much appreciated 😁👍
Hi there. Yeah I try to be a bit rough with them without risking much damage. It's come out unscathed which is good. Wouldn't try to send this over big jumps though. Many thanks indeed for watching. Much appreciated 😁👍
Hiya Derek. Oh yes it is my standard thing to do with a Tamiya kit. It is rather good fun. Cheers for watching and your great comments mate. Best wishes 👍👍
