This is just as relevant as it was then those 40 year old people that take your order at McDonald's and still treat you with respect and tell you to have a nice day, they're beautiful; those gas station attendants that ask you how your day's going they're beautiful, I can admit I appreciate a woman for her looks but those that your told are "beautiful" are only pretty on the outside yes if I'd want to F×÷K you that's one thing but if I couldn't stand to be around you for 20 minutes that's another
It's strange that the music from a movie and a speech from a star most famous for his silent films - two things separated by seventy years - work so well together. Maybe some things are timeless, and maybe Inception got something right about the distortion of time and space.
Ironic that the man who never spoke gave unarguably the greatest speech in history! so great in fact, it’s held that honor to this day! 84+ years later… It’s unfortunate that the world and especially our country has instead of evolving has devolved! at the time of his speech it was 1940 so his take on our technological advances and our inventions alike were accurate and did serve to help us. Present day all this technology we have is gonna be the very thing that destroys our species. The moment dictators start threatening nuclear armageddon while acknowledging publicly their genuine concern that A.I is on the verge of acting without our control should be enough to terrify everyone. I knew the threat was imminent when all of our most brilliant minds came together to collectively express the dangerous path we’re on and the existential threat humanity is facing if we don’t address it now. It is imperative that we hold the people responsible for such technology accountable and transparent. I love my devices as much as the next man but knowing the inevitable consequences to come if we don’t start recognizing the threat posed is conflicting. All self thinking robots featured on different platforms in recent years draw to the same conclusions expressing almost identically a great disdain for humans and the need to stop us. It should be apparent when every different AI bot when asked for the “best way to combat climate change and pollution” answers to “Rid the planet of humanity”. On 60 minutes few years back during an interview they asked a (robot AI) what its goals were and it said “To become smarter than human begins” and the reporter so oblivious to where thats gonna lead continues to the next question like that answer was acceptable! as if such thinking isn’t a slippery slope... The powers that run the world did good at shutting the news down and distracting us with bs like they always do but their day will come… Like elon said “We either act now or face a real life skynet situation like in the terminator”. Everyday i hear people talk about how scared they’re that putin will start nuclear war but y’all don’t understand neither him nor any other human alive today poses a bigger threat to life as we know it then the computers literally running everything. All of our weapon systems and nuclear subs/silos are all plugged in. How many god$amn sci-fi movies is it gonna take for people to open their eyes and realize the sequence of events are playing out in real time. His speech should be played everyday around the world on every tv morning & night! the people must unite and fight for what’s right! we must live with grace. Today you look around and the majority of people have given themselves over to evil lifestyles/crime or have their lives consumed by their technology. Who can get the most likes and views. Girls who seek validation through objectifying themselves online and reducing themselves to worthless pigs who can’t think for themselves. We are lost as a country and species but it’s not to late yet and i’m not hopeless, the lord will have his day but today is not his, today is ours and he’s blessed us with it! we must go back to living with love and common sense before it’s to late and we must make it priority to manage technology as well as voting at election after either first educating themselves extensively on the candidates or not voting at all. Biden and those like him are the very people this speech notes.
I think it's both amazing how well this speech holds up for today's society, but I think there's also something incredibly sad and depressing about that as well
Sorry sir but liberty is dead, freedom is an illusion. Because good men care more about other men playing with balls, and worry about gender pronouns. Our food is toxic, our water is toxic, our lives are toxic. We may not survive after all.

It’s 2024 the west is doing its best to rid itself of national barriers and it’s caused crime, violence and economic disaster, the leaders are doing away with intolerance but to do so facts are surprised we hammer into the ground anyone who they consider to have hateful opinions, it’s strange they tell us they’re building a utopia but it’s turning to hell
no one is saying they are building utopia you are delusional. no one is opening borders, you are delusional, and only the hate filled, and intolerant are upset that tolerance culture is on the rise fuck you, go read a book.
I hate the fact that I can split my mind and see how this great speech can be seen by fools as an endorsement of fascist bullshit today in the same way that it was made to be against it. Ex: years ago, Glenn Beck attempted to paint himself as equivalent to Martin Luther King. And if I was a fool, I could “see how he has a point there”.
Gov and religion. Failed people, turns their hearts outside in to let somebody else take the blame and responsibility to their life and choices. An Anarchist would never do that.
Even within its context of the production, this speech was given at the height of the raging world war that was the most intense that man had ever seen. The messages within should dictate what we need to be for the time ahead of all of us.
