@southafricamotorcyclist aah. I meant the native one, not the one that comes with Carplay or Android Auto. Just wanted to find out if Honda provided Africa specific navigation on the GW.
Superb machine, dude. I didn't want to spend 3K more for an airbag model. You need to replace the windscreen to F4. This bike is the best machine I have ever owned. Forget about HD, BMW. This is the one to get.
What's the hp on the new 2023 models? Supposedly, the CB500f is at 50hp, but I can't corroborate that fact on Honda's website for any of the 500 models. Also, how does the 500x perform on highways? I've read reviews that it gets buzzy at higher speeds.
According to Honda SA, it's 35kw @ 8500rpm. As for highway riding, it handled extremely well for a 500. Keep in mind that it's screaming at 140km/h, but that's what one would expect from a 500 parallel twin. And even with it screaming like that, you still have enough "go" to jump up to 180km/h without to much difficulty. Considering it's size and weight as well, the highway was not a problem at all!
I enjoyed your vid .thanks. I'm old skool from back in the 70,s riding and the less tech the better. Have a gsx 1400 and a v4 at the mo. The Katana looks interesting.
We test ride. Unfortunately the Goldwing and Harley Bagger is not easily available in South Africa, but definitely worth looking at if you can in your local.
In puertorico, they will charge you much more then 1,000,, for the BMW ( Alternador) and, 500 just two change the oil,, 😱😱😱,, very, very, and very, expensive, I will never buy a BMW 1600 B,,motorcycle,
I have recently owned a Gold-Wing, and I suspect most Wing owners will tell you "Gold-WIng every time". But that's most likely because they haven't tried the big BMW.
This is a difficult one to answer. Every bike is going to have different things happen at different times, depending on the rider, road conditions etc. A simple filter and oil change service (with the full checklist from a Motorrad technician), should set you back around ZAR 2000-2500.
🎉great review! Wanted one for the longest! Very grateful to be able to have the 21 Classic. Fuel gauge is missing. Hopefully, there will be a aftermarket gas cap with gauge. Fingers crossed.
I own the Classic version. Love it! A retro metal art sculpture. Two flaws. The windscreen is abhorrent. Horrific wind buffeting. Shame on the BMW design "engineer." Abysmal failure. However, there is a fix, at a very reasonable price. Clearview Shields (Fort Collins, Colorado). Multiple heights, widths, and curvature to redirect wind. Impressive design and material, and a great price. They brought their 36 years of experience. Number two is the stock seat. Very stiff. I upgraded to the Day Rider seat offered by BMW, but made by Mustang. There are other BMW (Mustang) seats offering even more padding.
You have a great intro man. I like it. Otherwise a good review. Well done. Just keep up and you can go far, very far. You got my like. p.s. Yeah, by the way... drop by, you may like it. :)
Have a 750dct 2021 and i have really learnt to love it. Not fastest bike neither the slowest, does everything asked of it and mine averages 83mpg permanently in sport mode
Hi iam going buy this insane beauty :-) but iam not determined about color😵💫 i love black but the silver one is great too. What do you think is most wanted colour?
just bought a 2020 Katana 1000 brand new in Feb. 2022. love it. been in the shop more than on the road. had 24 miles on it when I bought it had 117 miles on it when it went in the shop. I got 94 miles on it before the clutch went out. the tech at the shops says water in the oil, and clutch fibers in the oil. also says mud like substance caked up in the bottom of the engine case. say the mud is actually clutch fibers built up. AWESOME DUST COLLECTOR.. and all for the low price of $11,000.
Sad too hear that you've had so much problems with yours. Pity that we can't assist you from South Africa side. Have you tried getting hold of the importer/distributor wherever you are in the world?
It seems like a bike that has not been developed enough by Suzuki in comparison to its rivals. That screen makes it look cheap. My 2021 BMW S1000RR is where its at with top end sports bikes now.
So Kyle had a long chat with one of the guys from Suzuki about that. Other than a pretty color screen and cruise control, where do you feel the GSX-R lacks in comparison to your '21 S1000RR
@@southafricamotorcyclist Well I have never ridden a GSXR but then I had never ridden an S1000 either before buying my new one last year but I still regarded the GSXR as high on my list. Its just a combination of things - The 44 teeth guys excluding the Suzuki from their superbike group test (but I had already bought my BMW by then). Your own description of the bikes brakes. Just in general nobody going wow about the GSXR. Lets face it most bike dealers in Ireland will not allow test rides on new bikes so I have to decide on you tube videos. I still like Suzuki as a brand - had a brand new bandit 600 in 2000 which was nice. Not too keen on the new S logo though - I preferred seeing "SUZUKI" on the petrol tanks. Thinking of a used GSXR as a track bike though.
@@Lar308 the thing when it comes to the Japanese superbikes is that although there isn't that "WOW" factor in many of them, they tend to be extremely reliable and predictable to ride. Not too say there is anything wrong with the S1000RR at all, but it comes to personal preference and obviously cost as well. Power for power, the GSX-R is right up there, and the electronics underneath are just as good as any newly released bike out there. Seriously worth a ride if you can, especially considering that it is currently the cheapest superbike on the market currently, all because it doesn't have the pretty color screen and rather relies on a more track inspired display showing only essential data. From Kyle himself
Surprisingly it's not that much of a pain with slow riding and parking. Keep in mind that the weight is very low down, so although you can feel that it is there, because it is not a "top heavy" bike, it is really not as difficult to move as you would except.
Hi, very nice review of a really excellent bike, in my opinion anyway. I would like to find out. You said that you are a shorty. I'm 1.62m and I'm considering to upgrade to the VStrom. I'm currently on a 2012 BMW F650GS ( 800cc Parallel Twin) and on the BMW I'm pretty much tippy toe when I don't shift my bum to the one side. When I do I can reasonably almost flat foot one foot. How did you find the bike at slow speeds? I know Suzuki has the lower seat option available but would like to know what's your thoughts. I know the bike is also relatively heavy at 247kg if I remember correctly. Did it feel top heavy? I generally feel more comfortable and have more confidence when I can put two feet on the ground. Biggest fear is always dropping it.
Hi Freddie, I'm 1.68m, and this bike was easier height wise than a 1200GS. I didn't find it heavy, but in motion most bikes are super light. Moving the bike around in a garage or driveway wasn't hard either. From my perspective, this is a very easy bike, even in traffic.
