The absolute highest-level security screws in the world though is the Key Rex made by Bryce Fastener. Each customer gets their own custom, unique screw head and bit made only for those particular screws. Nuclear facilities, military, banks, prisons and places like that use Bryce Fasteners. All other so-called security screws have bits you can buy at any hardware store. Even the one-way screw heads have bits you can buy over the counter to remove them. All the ones in this video and all other security screws are made in China. Bryce is one of the only U.S. screw manufacturers there are. Check out this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jA9UvlqhNA0.html.

Whenever I buy a low-cost kitchen gadget such as a knife sharpener, toaster, kettle, etc, I _always_ examine it to see if it has security screws, and if I think they will prevent me opening it when it needs repair, I buy some other make that I believe can be dismantled. You can, of course, get little kits of security screw bits that fit most types of security screw. They are hex inserts that fit into a screwdriver handle with a hexagonal hole in it to receive the bit. The problem is that utensil manufacturers tend to put the security screws at the bottom of long plastic tubes which are too narrow to allow the screwdriver handle to be used. However, the bits themselves are frequently narrow enough to be dropped down onto the security screw, and will engage with it - but then you have the puzzle of turning it. Use a cutting wheel in a Dremel or similar tool, and cur a screwdriver slot in the back of the security bit. Now, you can drop it onto the screw, and turn it with a regular, flat-bladed screwdriver. This method has worked for me many times. On one occasion, the plastic tube that led to the security screw was tapered, so that the bit would have jammed near the bottom. Luckily, I realised this before dropping the bit down the hole, and first narrowed the bit by grinding the hex corners off, making it round. Then I cut a screwdriver slot into it and removed the offending security screw. Fixing machines is so much cheaper and more satisfying than having to buy a new machine. Read Vince Packard's "The Waste Makers". It's old, but it's an eye-opener.

I've got a better one. It's a steel lined porch with 3 doors. The outer one is open and the letterbox is in the middle one and the inner one is thick steel and goes to the house. The perpetrator pours the flammable stuff through the letterbox and light it. Heat sensors cause the outer door to shut and the middle door to open and the flammable liquid fills the space, burning the perpetrator alive! Muahahahaa that'll teach that letterbox arsonist!

"people do not understand the use of these, lol." People understand the use of these all too well. They are there to 'encourage' people to throw away machines that have a small fault, and buy a new one, rather than face the hassle of getting the security screws out in order to fix them. So the machine goes to recycling, which costs energy and material, where a simple repair would cost next to nothing. Security screws are beyond doubt the biggest anti-environment con ever devised.

I worked somewhere that used one of these, it's anything but secure, a standard flat head screwdriver can unlock the cheap plastic system

Hi Clint,Many thanks for your comment - unfortunately the Oval security screws have been discontinued by the manufacturer and are now out of stock, but our Security Torx or Security Hex machine screws are a great alternative - hope we can help

Problem is, all these screws and their screwdrivers are available at any hardware store. By far the best security screws www.brycefastener.com/ are the Key Rex made by Bryce Fastener. Every set of screws are custom made with one of a kind key-way and only you get the keyed bits that fit your screws.

Is there a way to remove a 2 hole screw
@DeeegerD

Never use a security screw - it's just a pain in the butt - the purpose of a screw is to secure something or release it. Damn these security screw people!!!! ;)
@DownhillAllTheWay

@Don Mega - If you think that way, you must be an idiot or a manufacturer. Did it occur to you that Digger D might be somebody who paid money for a coffee machine, a kettle, or a toaster, and now wants to fix it because it has failed. Does that seem like thievery to you? The only alternative to fixing things is to buy a new unit - and that is, of course, the purpose of security screws. Manufacturers make their money by selling things, and would far rather sell a new unit than have people fix things when they go wrong. When they incorporate security screws, they are thieving from us the possibility of fixing things and saving money - they are forcing us to spend money again for something we already bought - so where does the thievery lie?

A simple pry bar will tear the whole hasp lock from the door frame -- they should really address that problem rather than supplying those ridiculously short screws.

if youve forgot your code or just wanna pay someone an unexpected visit, whether they are home or away, then a crowbar and the right knowhow should be one of the best ways to rip it down and tear it open to get to the much required contents. the master box. for your health...and protection

@mindfreak591 you will need to drill them out! or some careful work with a dremel to cut a new groove for a screwdriver.

just drill into the centre of the cap, thread the hole and use a slide hammer.

I don't think the last respondent understands the NoGo product at all! - the NoGo cup and cap system fully encloses the head of the bolt and/or the Nut, making it impossible to undo the fixing - which is why NoGo is the fixing used in maximum security applications by the MOD, HM. Prisons, etc...
