I like this dance and the teacher has a great presentation style. I think the dance could be better though if the music's meter would start and stop with the dance . the music has a natural repeat after 16 or 32 counts and I think the dance has a few more than 32 so it makes it harder to know when to start and stop.
Good point. We put this together to directly reflect what is going on in the original. It's phrased the same. But, in general, we agree that line dances should ideally be phrased to the music. Thanks for watching!

Even more impressive is when Dawn then breaks it down facing the camera but doing it mirror image so you can still follow along with her facing the screen!
Not Rueda, but cut in Hustle/West Coast Swing. Since it was Dawn and Karina's birthday, people cut in to dance with them and celebrate. As you can see, some are more smooth and skilled at it then others. We teach workshops on "Cutting in" which is sometimes called "hot-boxing" where leaders and followers learn to cut in on a dance partnership smoothly without missing a beat or step and making it comfortable for partners.

We think the DJ thought it would make for a good slow blues song (as some slow blues dance tunes are in 6/8), but this one was distinctly a waltz. The DJ must have realized as they faded out rather quickly...
In addition to the great dancing and instruction, notice how effective the curtain and our state-of-the-art sound system is at separating the sound from one side and the other!
Actually, she is doing the mirror image...Dawn is so talented that she is doing the routine with the opposite side so when you do it along with her, you are doing the correct side as if you're looking in a mirror. Then, later in the video she does it facing away too...switching to doing it on the correct side! Isn't she super talented and thoughtful? If she only taught facing away, then you wouldn't be able to see the arm styling and articulation from the front. And if she demonstrated from the front view without making the mirror-image adjustment it would be confusing for you to. So, this method by Dawn is quite perfect. Thanks for watching!
