My high school band was better. We actually cared about how we played and how we presented ourselves. There was never any sloppy slouching, sloppy marching, or sloppy rolls. Everything was clean and crisp. We had ten snare drummers who all sounded like one. Our heel to toe march looked like a scene from the clone wars. I was fourteen and understood formation, discipline, and unifacation. All of these drummers seemed to be marching to their own beat. I've wanted to be a high school band director ever since I was five years old And it was absolutely devastating to learn that the A&M band director doesn't even hold a music degree. I love college station, and I love music, but the band is awful. It isn't the students fault. This is one hundred percent the responsibility of faculty.... the same faculty that received millions of dollars annually for education. A bass drum mallet should never be more then 6 inches away from the head, otherwise you are losing energy and will get tired faster. It also trains your muscle memory to play the drum incorrectly
They are singing Goodbye to Texas university even when we beat them the last time we played in 2011 try playing this when Texas is up by 50 points next yeat
@@stephenhenley7452 Greetings Stephen. Noone would be more delighted than me to see all Americans march as well as these boys here, Nice to see the neck back into the collar and the heel of the boot striking the ground, and not the flat of the foot. Of course it is none of my business...but once a Regimental Sergeant Major, it never leaves me.
I have a new favorite thing I enjoy listening for: The bass drums. It's so cool to watch the bass drummers do their counter marches, but now I have been hearing them louder than before during that move. So cool. 👍 Check it out at the 7:03 mark.
This was not the first practice of the year. Look at their confidence in snapping those turns and the incredible straightness not just of their lines but of their diagonals!
