My friend wanted to take me to see Stewart Lee at the Edinburgh Fringe. I said “is he funny?” , he said “no he isn’t, but you will agree the fuck with it”. We didn’t go in the end.
I’m telling you, as someone in something like sales, this is how it’s done. Don’t talk sales. Talk life. What does it mean to you? You tell me. What do you want it to mean? Etc etc.
Of course. If someone opens up on me with a sales pitch, I am immediately on my guard; if someone shares an amusing anecdote, I am more inclined to listen.
Some of the audience look as if they thought they were coming to see a different comedian...as dissapointed as my ex wife was when I took her to see a play in London starring Warren Mitchell...she was expecting Warren Beatty..she thought he'd let himself go....Im off to buy Sardines in mustard sauce...
This is Stewart taking a dig not only at cheap predictable "audience interaction" bits, but also at his *own* crappy stand-up from the late 90s / early 2000s, where he basically just made sarky comments about banal things.
Seeing this while both parties support a g*nocide in Gaza. Completely right on the mark. GOP's policies on Israel is "don't be a p*ssy ab Israel. They better get that hostage deal done or else I'm gonna do something about it! DNC is soft of terr*rism! We want more bombs! We want US troops on the ground!" DNC's policies on Israel is "don't be an a** hole ab Israel. We care about both funding the IDF leading a merciless military campaign that's bombarding schools, AND the kids inside those schools. We want a ceasefire AND a hostage deal as we give money to the country that's doing all the bombing and has k**led every diplomat in charge of a hostage deal." Even on immigration the DNC doesn't even try to be different from GOP, Kamala is trying to appear tougher than Trump on the border.
I was in sales for a short period of time, and that's at the age of 18 to 20. I wanted to learn about everything there's to it. It came to me that I'm just not cut for it. It takes something spectacular to be a predator in sales, like an athletic sportsman - not everybody has it. Pacino is like a God here.
Sensing the mark's insecurities, talking nonsense like it's deep philosophy, making the mark want to latch onto your "deep insights" and confidence... Beautiful.
The cognitive ability decline is obvious and it was even starting in 2020. 2008 and 2012, he was 100%, but what we saw on June 27th is an 82 year old man who has lost his mental capacity - no different than we will all be eventually at that age. But also understand and admit - Trump is fried too. He talks in circles and never actually answers a question or offers actual policy details. The difference between Biden and Trump too is, Biden and his family / political staff had the decency to step aside and give up power, whereas Trump is willing to take down the entire country in an angry, deranged ego driven grab to return to power - JUST SO HE CAN GLOAT. Republicans need to get Trump to step aside too.
He's a funny guy, mostly, but his jealousy of more successful comedians really grates, the lack of professional courtesy coming across as rather cringe-worthy.
@@garethsnaim8174 I understand, I just think it's rather weak. He does have some good sets, but largely he relies on pseudo-intellectuals giving him more credence than he deserves.
The party told you to deny the evidence of your eyes and ears for 4 years. Finally the charade is over. Dems seriously can't see a demented old man for what he is? The TV has to explain it for them to get it?
Anyone ever notice how most of the debates have cursive writing from a famous American documents in the background but the most recent one just has the CNN logo, what's up with that?
