Great video, have to go there, definitely on my bucket list. As for the landing, we all have those, my “3 landings in one” at ORS during their fly in certainly wasn’t my best. Let’s find a way to do some flying together this summer. 👍👍

This is a very difficult field to land when winds are not optimal. 15 years ago there was a horrible accident there of a low-time pilot trying to land with tail wind over the lake and didn't make it. So your decision to take the rarely used mountain approach may have been the better one. At least if things gone wrong you had better chances to go around. As the NTSB report details, the go-around from lake approach with a tail wind was deadly. I would cautioned anyone without significant experience from going there, especially on days with suboptimal winds and density altitude. www.asias.faa.gov/apex/f?p=100:17:::NO::AP_BRIEF_RPT_VAR:WPR09FA316

Very nice video. We instructors like the camera between the seats view. Terrain and trees put us off some from techniques that we may be more comfortable with at the home airport. However, full flaps and deceleration to a bit of sink brings throttle into dynamic play for exact glide angle and rate of descent control without the speed up common with the forward slip. The wind is our friend. Yes, with a long runway, a downwind landing up slope works well. But the other way with a good headwind allows an approach with very slow ground speed and long look at the situation where we don't see the runway until late. Good job though.

Bad soft field landing because?...landing long?...downhill?...please explain...thank you...
@SimonButler
@SimonButler 22 часа назад
@@Mtnhiker56 landing long and coming down on all three landing great pretty hard after my float. Hard contact is pretty much what you want to avoid on soft fields. However, luckily, this field was not very soft, even though it was grass.
