Thanks for the video, the prying thing was really tricky. I have a question: there's a heatsink on one of the ICs, it just kinda fell off when I removed the RF shield, any tips on how to get it back onto the IC?
Thanks for the video! On the pedal, does it matter which cord you have connect to the switch and which you connect to ground? I seem to have lost track of that detail...
What do I do if I turn on my original xbox and it won't do anything but has a screen that says "call xbox support" Is there any way around this? I bought it from gamestop but all my old receipts have sadly faded to being unreadable. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've never thought to do it that way quite interesting. Although some 3rd party companies make aftermarket drop in replacement DC power jacks you can install so whats the point?
3:16 that's 10v supply and has fried a screen on me after doing the 5v mod. Maybe using the point just above TP206 and below TP209 for 5v is safer going forward. Otherwise, great tutorial and nothing left out, even mentioning the wire guides on the 3d printed bracket. Nice
My DC jack was loose and power only worked when held a certain way. When I went to resolder the metal ring around where you solder came off. After soldering I now have no power at all. Is it because the metal came off and if it is how do I fix it?
The easiest way to fix that is to solder a small jumper wire from the jack to the trace that the ring cam off of. its hard to explain. if you look up "trace repair" it should give you a better idea of what i mean.
just the guide i was looking for. Other videos are just ppl having the camera showing their face while zero zoom ins or close ups are being shown at the actual hardware 🤦🏻♂️. Awesome video 👍!
THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS THESE BREAK SO EASILY THEY SHOULD BE HOT SWAPPABLE I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SOLDER THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS GOD DAMNIT, I have a wireless controller that won't charge even though I'm trying to use it wired on a PC and I have a wired controller with a bum stick, i should be able to take the joystick out of the one and put it into the other BUT I CAN'T because my hands are too shaky to solder, I have the tool, I know how, I just CAN'T anymore. I should've lever actioned my face into the psych ward wall, Jesus Christ I can't even fucking escape reality.
And I basically had to break the wireless one's case to get into it, because even though I managed to get all of the damn unnecessarily security posted torx screws out of the wireless controller with a flat head screw driver, it still wouldn't come apart and I had to rip it open.
I was thinking about doing this to my Xbox. Although if what you're telling me is true that the warranty is void if I take it apart. I don't know if I want to do it now.
There could be a couple of reasons. Are you using flux? Flux lowers the melting point of solder to help it flow and stick to metal. Are you using the right kind of solder? There are many types. But for basic electronics, there is leaded and lead free solder. Leaded solder has a lower melting point than lead free solder. You have to have a pretty hot soldering iron to solder with lead free solder. I hope I helped.
I know this is an old video, are you still selling the boards, I have one but it requires removal of things from the 7800, then I saw yours where nothing needs to be removed and thought I would check first to see if you are still selling before continuing with the other
I kept telling my wife it’s the spinny thing on the inside of the dvd housing that’s getting the tray stuck. I finally found the right wording to get to this. Thank you
If i remember correctly, Genesis 2 connectors have outputs for all standard video formats. A/V, S-Video, RGB... It will work but only with A/V and S-Video out puts. I hope I answered your question.
Just wanted to say thanks for making a no nonsense, easy to understand video. My son and I have a RU-vid channel called Dead Bunnies and a series called Flippin' Ain't Easy where we flip estate and garage sale items. I bought a few of these kits for some 2600's that I bought recently and your video made it an easy job. Keep up the good work.
American snes use a proprietary power jack while the japanese model uses the standard 5.5*2.1 jacks for some reason (idk about europe). It's hard to find adapters so it's cheaper to just replace the broken port.
@@kibecru Soso. I have a 3D printer, and was looking at prints on thingiverse I could change up. Its just easier and more factory looking to just buy something pre made even though I hate the design. Plus its center negative.
Thank you my friend you have guided me to knowing yet another console disassembly and in good time to I just acquired a original Xbox yesterday no cords and probably needs a good dusting to
Thanks man. This helped a lot. I made a rookie mistake and plugged a 110v Xbox into a 220v power source without using a voltage converter. Looks like it fried my power supply board 😢
You explained this quite well, no other video mentions this, thank you. I boiled the rubber belt which slightly regained it's shape (might get an OEM one), used silicone grease on the rails, isopropyl on the lens, but electrical tape on the washer didn't stop it from getting stuck. Ah I just found the labels online! I'll get some and try this out properly
Just done mine. There was genuinely NO thermal paste on the heat sinks. None!!! I’m lucky I changed it when I did. I’ve even kinda sorted the disk tray problem.
I knew what was going to happen as soon as I seen the connectors being attached to the ribbon cable outside the case and where you was going to feed the ribbon cable through into the case, 30+ year old plastics don't take kindly to bending/flexing. other than that its a very clean install.
@@ARCTICLABSERVICES there was this TV show where a masked magician "broke the code" and revealed how tricks were done. It was done in the same tone and cadence as your video
Ok. I watched one. I know who you're talking about. I don't hear it but my wife had a stunned look on her face. She said in my videos, I do sound like him.
@@ARCTICLABSERVICES haha it's never 1 to 1 but funny she agrees. Anyway I'm a modder to and just random videos to pass the time. I'll sub just incase you want to put up a random video in the coming years.
