You took your time in making this video explaining what is involve for anyone thinking about a home generator. You did answer some questions I had. I appreciate the time and effort. Thank you.
How much estimated did the natural gas cost to run for the week you lost power 3 weeks ago during the hurricane. I’m also in Houston and wanting to know.
We're in an extremely rural area so them being loud isn't a problem. We got hit by a tornado last year and everyone had theirs running for 1-2 weeks. We could all hear each other's generators and you just turn out the noise after a while. We don't hear it in the house except the area nearest it and indoors maybe about 45-50 decibels. The propane bill was hell but totally worth it. For those worrying about generac quality, we've performed regular maintenance on ours and recently had an overhaul-- after 10 years.
This video is very nicely done. You should be Generac's spokesman. But at 12:06 what is that behind you on the fence? I hope that's not paranormal activity. Enjoy your day my friend.
Generator motors running at 1800 rpm are a lot quieter and more noise friendly than the systems that run at 3600rpm. May want to factor that into your purchase decision.
FIRST THING IS I LOVED THE DETAILS YOU SHARED ABOUT THIS GENERATOR SECONDLY I THOUGHT I WOULD BE ABLE TO AFFORD IT UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT BATTERY CAME UP AND I WENT ONLINE TO DO A COST CHECK AND OH MY GOD ITS ANOTHER $1600-2000 DOLLAR EXPENSE ALL OVER AGAIN JUST TO RICH FOR MY BLOOD UNFORTUNATELY .I GUESS AFTER THE PURCHASE I COULD START A PENNY BANK STASH TO COVER JUST THAT BATTERY WITHIN THE NEXT 16 MONTHS. SO DO YOU THINK THAT BATTERY LASTED LONG ENOUGH CONSIDERING THAT YOU DONT HAVE OUTAGES ALL THE TIME? BECAUSE A YEAR AND 4 MONTHS SEEMS SO SHORT AND I WAS CURIOUS AS TO DID YOU HAVE A OUTAGE WITHIN THAT 16 MONTHS? ALSO I'M NEW TO ALL OF THIS AND HAVE SOLAR ON MY HOME BUT I'M REALIZING POWER STILL CAN GO OUT WITH SOLAR IT MIGHT NOT STAY OUT AS LONG AS SOMEONE WITHOUT SOLAR BUT IT DOES GO OUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD CONTINUE DURING A OUTAGE SO IMAGINE MY SURPRISE. WELL ALL THIS TALK ABOUT POWER GRID THREATS IS MAKING ME WANT TO DO SOMETHING INSTEAD OF NOTHING. ALSO YOU MENTIONED ABOUT GAS A LOT I HAVE A ELECTRIC STOVE SO WOULD I STILL NEED A GAS LINE CONNECTION STILL? THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SHARING YOUR GENERATOR EXPERIENCE I WILL SHARE WHAT I'VE LEARNED WITH MY FAMILY AS WE ALL WANT TO JUST THINK AHEAD AND DONT GET CAUGHT SLEEPING 😂THANK YOU AND STAY BLESSED YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ❤
Hey guys, I've gotten inspiration watching you work on engines. I bought a 6.6 L8Tcrate engine and put a Texas-Speed cam, springs and pushrods in it. I also did the the trunions from CHE and a LT2 intake. I put it in a 72 Camaro with a 5-speed Tremec and it RIPS! Thanks for the how to videos. Keep them coming!
@@JustCantSitStill every five years I trench around the foundation and soak it with termite chemical If you ever have a problem you will have to drill holes through the concrete some people say the granules work
Last question! I'm keeping my direct injection system, but I bought the ICT billet valley tray... is that one bolt for the fuel line critical? If so I would have to use my stock valley cover. I couldn't see if you kept your direct injection on Mr Freeze build.
That ICT billet Plate does not have a mounting point for the stock stainless S-shaped fuel lines. Is that mounting point critical for the S-shaped fuel line since the ICT billet tray doesn't have one?
You are trenching and we are 1-2 weeks away from first fire up on our 64 C10. The last fire up was during the engine build on an engine dyno. Time to put this mighty mouse on the road. Just a little 406 NA motor.
End on the day, I just wanna come over and have a coors with ya at least once. Are you on Instagram yet? I'm pretty big over there. Or I was. I don't keep up with my social media.
How much would a system like this go for today in 2024? Someone aquoted me $16.8k for a 10KVA generator, not including permits, drawings, gas pipe work. What the heck. Can it be that expensive 2yrs later!
About to commit to the 26kW from General Supercenter. Would you still go with Generac after having it for 2 years. I’m torn due to bad reviews on BBB and their Facebook page. Any tips?
I have a 22kw Generac and we lost power for 8 days due to Hurricane Beryl. My Generac ran 24 hours a day for 8 days, and we were cool and comfortable with power to the entire house. We could barely hear it running inside the house and it sounded like music to our ears. Also, I just got my Natural Gas bill yesterday and it cost $227 to run it for 8 full 24-hour days. That's $28.37 per day and I'm very happy with that.
Thanks for that Real Life info! How big is your home (sq ft) . Is it one story or two story? And how many AC units do you have? My wife and I are originally from Torrance Ca. We moved to Anthem AZ in 2013 (3.5k sq ft with 2 AC units) and saw our largest Electric bill in the summer of 2017! We lived in AZ for 5 years. Then we moved to Cypress TX in 2018, into a brand new 4K sq. ft. Home with 2 AC units. Our largest bill in summer was about 400 bucks. We are now going to be moving back to a new build in Suprise AZ (3K sq ft) And we are now looking into solar but I like the reliability of a Generac.
Every time ours comes on when the power goes out it's music to our ears. We're always last in line for power restoration because I'm in an extremely rural area. Our propane bill after getting v hit by a tornado last year and but having power for a week was awful but it powered through like a champ and then handled a 4 day outage from an ice storm a few months later. Ours are not brand new. We've had them about 10 years and they've had regular upkeep and had to have a component replaced shortly before the tornado and that was it. Smooth sailing. I don't understand why generac gets such a bad rap. We actually have one for our barn too for our livestock to keep the well pump running and the lights on.
Sir, you are so kind for the walk through and explaining things. They need to give you a referral code for this video because you were extremely thorough!
Mine isn’t too far from our bedroom window (18KW) but I have double pane windows and the exhaust points away from house. I can hear it but not bad. And during our recent 11 day outage after Beryl, that bit of noise was no big deal as long as the AC was running. Also my neighbor said it doesn’t bother him.
As you age life is more about convenience. Having a home generator is a massive convenience. I did the less expensive way for years with a portable generator. No more. It’s all about quality of life now. Great video. Thanks
