Great info! How you position your live image? Straight down or facing forward? I fished for lakers few times what do you do when you see them chase up on your falling jig? I tried running away but they usually turn back down.. thanks
I do forward facing most of the time. I usually stop my jig way above them so it's no moving so they think they are getting an easy meal. If they are turning back down your bait might be too big
Excellent tutorial thanks much. Question: Is the rabbit fur acting "somewhat" as a weed guard? Would think you'd get hung up constantly fishing close to, and actually in, the brush piles.
It’s the time of the year for those Brookies where no fish finder is needed. Fish any weed edge or rocky point or area. I love it. Been catching them all weekend on jerkbaits.
I live in Atlantic Canada and all the lakes local to me that have lake trout (or as many here call them ‘togue’) are rainbow smelt based lakes. Recently I was trying to get a last fish in before our season ends for trout, when I arrived at the lake I’ve been fishing all summer I was unable to locate any bait balls at all. I’ve never encountered this problem before. Do the smelt change behaviour/stop schooling in late summer? The lake I frequent is not a large lake so it’s usually been quite easy to find the smelts but I covered a fairly large portion of it throughout the day and was unsuccessful finding even a single bait ball. PS. This has been a great series, thanks for doing it!
You are welcome for the series. It depends on your water temperature smelt have a very specific range that they like to be in. Today I was out in 70° Fahrenheit and I found the small smelt up high in shallow above the thermocline and then I found bigger smelt down at the bottom squished. The only time smoke really disappear is in the spring when they go up rivers to spawn
I got this last year it’s a lot of fun from my kayak, I paddle around small ponds and “chart” out the bottom (chart in my head at least). Only shortcoming I’ve found so far is that it loses connection from my phone once it gets about 4-5 feet away. I’m not sure how people use it when actually casting it out.
Love foshing like this! We've been chasing pike and bass recently Time to get out on the big water and chase some Lakers, but not tonight. 15-20 mph winds.
Nice fish been watching a lot I live in southern nh been trying to get a laker on winni and moosehead, id love to see a video on Moosehead lake sometime theres some 20 pounders in there
I’ve never fished there but family member recently bought a home near the lake. My understanding is the fish are smaller than Cayuga or Seneca. Google AI shows 20” average.
So 200 khz is faster and has a smaller search area about 15 degrees. Chirp uses a frequency range which is actually better but some sonars dont have it
What livescope package should I buy for Lake Tahoe , jigging 80 to 200 ft deep I want you to let me know what livescope I should buy and screen , don't need maps , I have maps on other sonar
If you have a Garmin head unit already then livescope plus would be the cheapest. If you need the whole setup go to summit fishing equipment and buy a package. For that depth I'd use livescope XR but that's $2500 more
My 2d sonar is saying I'm in a 185ft of water. I am not jigging directly on my trans duper. I will next time. But what I'm getting at my line counting reel is saying I'm in 210ft of water. Am I 9n a ledge?
What device are you using to record your helm footage? My video comes out like utter shite. Do you ever have issues with it? Mine skips and has complete trash resolution. So sick of it I’m probably going to pony up for an 8612 for best resolution and an hdmi out.
I'm using a GPS map 923 and active captain helm app to record. I have had issues with it freezing. When's the last time you did an update? Also the GPSmap 12 inch has HDMI and cheaper than the 8xxx series
