U should definitely upload more videos very interested in the yzf705 build I have the same motor with the plan to put it on a go kart. Do u think u could help me with some wiring?
I had to buy a book, but I ended up buying a complete harness, and chasing down all the systems, I could try to help. I never ended up finishing that sandrail, I still have it though, and 2 yzf750 motors. I jump around a lot.
Why u put that clutch that way? Reason why I asked is because when installed mines. It's takes off fast but that it it want go no more like the belt is slipping.is it the wrong converter?
Swear to God on my life you and I did the same shit. No lie I had all the same problems. I also did the same thing with the idle idea. Because I knew the engine was gonna apply a little bit of a load on it. I am still getting burnt belts like crazy. I'm going to switch to a v belt. Have you had any issues with improper engagement?
Brake calipers and front control arms. Engine of choice and body this would be a runner. This is 2021, where is this today to compare to the cars and camera guys.
I have my 301 and converter the same direction as yours and basically did the same things. Only way I was able to align the pulleys was I drilled and tapped the jackshaft bolt to fit a 5/16 bolt about 1" deep and was able to bring out the pulley far enough to have them line up perfect. Yes it's backwards, but it's the only way it can go. I totally understand what you have going on. I've been having my kart like this for around 6 months and I use it like a quad lol I put it through hell basically and so far the only thing that seems to be happening is the belt is taking wear a little faster than normal ( remember it's a china belt from the kit ) but I have no complaints and am very satisfied with all I put it through
Depends on the gear ratios in the diffs. You can run different sized tires if you change the ratio in the front diff to cause the wheel speeds to match.
Helpful video, going through the same exact thing tonight, have to drill out that end washer also. I shaved the oil tube down a 1/8" and cut the top part of dipstick handle off also, so the mounting plate fit towards the back. But thanks for sharing the details about drilling the crank shaft end washer.
do you still have this contraption lol it looks pretty kool id love to know what some of the parts are like brands if there are any on the gear box and steering lol
Its all hand made, someone really liked machining and had access to the right milling and lathe equipment. And, I do still have the wacky thing. Everyone who has wanted to buy it got scared of shipping, the three people that asked were all east coast, i am Pacific NW.
I will look back thru my videos and see. I think I got the gap from redbeards garage here on RU-vid from the one of his builds. I will do my best to get the answer because it seemed to work great.
@@marquelcrumpton7267 not being a jerk or rude by any means but there's no such thing as anything in your comment. Misinformation is spread everyday by the millions here in the comments by RU-vid armchair professional mechanics, the best of the best what they say is right everyone else is wrong and how do I know this, just ask them they'll tell you LOL. All you're doing is simply removing the stock valve spring and replacing it with the 50 lb valve spring, easy peasy. Now we can get very technical on spring high and different spring pressures at different intervals throughout motion and I could go on for days, but here on Earth we have to realize that this is a commercial engine designed for light duty work and not a 60,000 Steve Morrison engine lol. Sorry I'm rambling on, like I said remove the stock spring replace it with your aftermarket spring it's as simple as that
before you even buy sparkplugs..take a compresion test..if anything is below 9....throw the engine...it had water in the cyliders..that means bye bye...if you need help..just ask...im a professional on yamaha,,,and had one of these yzf....i know every screw on them..
Yeah... In fact I probably would, I have so many projects right now it would be smart to lighten the load, especially on this cart, it should go to someone who would be capable of doing it justice. Are you in the Pacific Northwest? It's too heavy to ship unless I threw it on a pallet and shipped it. You can email me at mattcb750@gmail.com
It's a 30 series. I built the engine, jetted, clipped every other fan blade, raised the compression with a homemade thin copper head gasket, put 50 lb springs in, removed the governor, did a bigger air intake and exhaust. It is pushing a ton of power, sorry for the tangent but my point is I need a bigger torque converter. 40 series at the least. But the one I was using was a 30 series with a 2" driver.
@@buildstuff2928 have you thought about a 30 series Juggernaut torque converter use the 3bay driven. The juggernaut is $119 at gopowersports and really works well. Unless you need a series 40
Yeah, that would be fine, it is an interesting setup, I have since worked on it a little, I have split the frame to extend it and I am trying to figure out a way to disengage the 4x4 and engage it at will because the amount of traction makes it hard to move around with no differential action. Thanks for your interest, how do I get you my email without making it public, is there a way to private message someone? (That's how savvy I am with RU-vid)
You have to reduce the thickness of the spacer behind the crankshaft pulley to bring it in line with the driven pulley. that top hat shaped piece will probably have to get reduced in thickness too in order to keep the assembly tight on the crank. The crankshaft bolt is a 7/16-20 UNF on a gx270 this engine is based off of, so it could be that. The Reason none of the bits fit is the 30 series converter you have here is made for gx160/200 + predator 212 engines not the bigger block ones, that is why you can only fit the mounting plate in that one position. Cheers
Aren't the 212cc and the gx270 3/4" shaft, this is 1" for the bigger engine. I would love to have a 40 series though. Thank you for the advice. I ended up changing it and it lines up. I will update soon. The 301cc screams without the governor. I think I need to upgrade a few things so as not to blow it up.
