Margot IS LOIS LANE, but if they wouldn’t have went with her, I would’ve picked Ann. She was attractive and I liked her flare based on her screen test.
If he paralyzed from mid chest down, how could he stand? I just don’t get this part The movie is very great and Tom Cruise did a great work portraying Ron Kovic
O WOW I didn't know Stockard Channing had auditioned for the role of Lewis. I wonder why they didn't chose Stockard Channing for the role. But I have to admit that out of all the actresses that auditioned Margot Kidder is the one that looks more natural. The objective is to not show that you're acting
That line about "having relations with the press" could've been a funny one in the film if delivered right. Too bad they cut it out. Margot's wonderful here. Unlike the other actresses, she isn't "sing-songing" her way through the dialogue like she knows the words by heart already. Debra Raffin would've been my second choice. She really looks just like I picture Lois, while being a true knockout beauty. I think that would've added to the idea that the character is a superstar of Metropolis, which Lois should be. I like the humor in some of Debra's delivery, but she needed a little more practice on some of the lines.
I like Lesley Ann Warren the best! She plays "ditzy" very good! The role called for a sense of humor and she played Lois Lane in a silly musical version of Superman a couple years prior to this. Oh....she was Cinderella too!
You are literally a self-professed MGTOW, basically a sexist and a conspiracy theories, and you are supposedly ranting about the perceived failing of conservatives such as Donald Trump? Are you even listening to yourself mate?
Actually for rehearsals I think Anne Archer did the best. Margot was actually much better in the movie then she was in the rehearsal. At least in my opinion.
Susan Blakely would have worked nicely, if Kidder had passed on the role. Had they set the movie in the Golden Age (1940's), Anne Archer would have been perfect. Something about her evokes that period.
I noticed that Margot Kidder does the interview from a more personal perspective. This actress however does the interview from a more journalistic perspective. During the interview with Margot Kidder you can notice right away that Louis is romantically interested in Superman
Anne archer would have been a fine choice if Kidder was unavailable. Raffin looked like Jaclyn Smith with comedic sassy. Channing has the Lois Lane smarts and swag. Leslie Ann Warren - so damn sexy and adorable - one of my favs.
Karen Allen who played Marion in _Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)_ could have been a good Lois, but she's not in these screen tests. Also there's no other guys besides Reeve.
Stockard was sexy back then. I know we are all used to kidder, and she was perfect, but if kidder didn't get the part stockard would have been great choice. The first actress was horrible. .lol...🦸♂️
Lyn Stalmaster was a genius in that he realized the less obvious quality Lois needed was a sense of humor. A less perceptive casting director might have just chosen Anne Archer or Susan Blakeslee (who both read perfectly fine and more "looked" the part of the conventional Lois known in the comics to that point) and called it a day. But he understood that where the others were playing the part of "Lois" and playing her very well, Margot "was" Lois "talking" to Superman in the realest sense playing off this great balance of wonderment, sarcasm, disbelief, and glee - grounded in the real world and cynical to the idea that someone like "Superman" could even exist and yet here she is standing and talking to him (the way she delivers the "air mail letter" crack comes off as so real, right down to the head tilt and little smirk she gives off like she's joking with a cop or a cab driver or somebody). Its just amazing how he "knew" what the character needed instinctually
Kidder and Channing are the best actresses of the batch, in that they don’t simply rely on the words, and keep thoughts going between the lines. Kidder is a better fit for a romantic comedy, though (Channing is somewhat cold and hard) and shows greater variety.
One of the most iconic lines in a movie from my childhood: "CRIME PAYS IN THIS COUNTRY!" First saw this when I was ~8 yrs old. That line has always stuck with me.
You do realize he’s a manic depressive narcissist who gets himself killed and his family tormented in South America because he’s incapable of empathy right? The guys a mentally unstable man who should’ve gotten help but didn’t. Hes got an ego bigger than his conscience and he would rather be right than happy. In short this isn’t based at all. This is a self destructive narcissist who ruined his life and the lives of others. Don’t believe for a second that just because he spouts these beliefs that they come from anywhere other than “Allie knows all and is always right” thinking.
