I purchased the Roland fp 60x recently & just now have had time to start learning the functions: I want to play dual tones with drum tones, but I must be doing something wrong...I press Synth/Other then + to number 15 for drum set tones. The problem - when I play, the drums sound like a child's toy, complete with whistles & other annoying sounds. Please tell me this is NOT normal! My old FP roland 5 had great sounding drums that I could add to my playing.

Portable pianos are typically used for lots of practice, plus occasional light gigging. But if you plan to do heavy gigging, beware! We should remember that manufacturers design the portable piano sounds around stereo and acoustic effects which sound great to the person practising at home, but may be redundant on stage. If the sound engineer mixes your piano as mono and adds his own effects, your stereo sound and preset effects will let you down. Try to hear the raw sound before you buy.

That A-flat on that miner seventh B-flat - A-flat interval at 2:09 recalls me my grandfather working with a hammer in the backyard years ago.😂😂 I mean come on! That metallic, dry, unbearable sound especially when playing above forte, is there since Roland Jupiter came out! Isn't it shameful that they still sell us the same damned piano sound for so many years? P.S. I own an FP-30 and I believe Roland offers more than its rivals in this price range, but that doesn't mean their piano sounds are limitless.

Sean-Lee: It sounds like you're not sure about the purpose of your piano. An entry level stage piano is equivalent to a mid range portable piano in terms of price and quality, but their roles are different. The RD88 is an entry-level stage piano (a gigging piano) but can be used for practice etcetera since it does have some modest speakers. It's action might be unsatisfactory for long hours of practice. The FP pianos are portable pianos, designed mainly for practising on - they get glowing reviews on their actions and their speakers. They can also be used for light home studio stuff and gigs now that most of them have proper outputs, but they still lack many typical stage features. The bluetooth functionality is nice but not as reliable as a USB connection.

It is ENTIRELY unclear, even on Roland's website, if you can connect the Roland triple pedal RPU-3 to the new FP-30/60/90 X series, especially if you do NOT want to use the keyboard with its sturdy, wooden KSC-70 stand, but on a lighter type of support. In fact, it looks like the triple pedal that goes with the FP-?0-X series, the KPD-70, REQUIRES that you use the KSC-70 stand. NO contact form on Roland's website to ask them - of course: these people do NOT want to be disturbed, especially not by potential buyers. And that's how you DON'T sell a product...

Hi, did you manage to find some answer to these dubts? They are so important.
@firstnamelastname8850
@firstnamelastname8850 3 года назад
@@marcozuccaro4168 Hi Marco, yes, continuing my online researches, I did. NO, you cannot use the RPU-3 pedal on the FP-?0-X series, it's 3-jack plugin have no entry on the new keyboards, wich have a 9-pin din connector, and Roland provides (and intends to provide) no adapter. On the other hand the KPD-70 3-pedal unit that goes with the FP-?0-X series, and is mounted on a bar that is then fixed onto the legs of the KSC-70 stand, can be used independently from said stand. So if you want a three-pedal unit with your new FP-?0-X but NOT the KSC-70 stand, you need to buy the KPD-70 3-pedal unit. Some have even cut the bar and made some adaptations to change it into a 3-pedal unit similar to the old RPU-3, see here: forums.musicplayer.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/3003985/3-1-4-plugs-to-8-pin-adapter-for-roland-pedals. I've bought the FP-30-X keyboard and 3-pedal unit... and haven't received them yet, so can't tell you if it works.

@@firstnamelastname8850 maybe you should do some better research before posting utter nonsense. ;-) Actually 90X and 60X DO HAVE the inputs for the triple connectors so the RPU-3 pedal unit should perfectly fit on those DPs. The FP-30(X) is the only model that uses the DIN-connector instead of the triple inputs
@firstnamelastname8850
@firstnamelastname8850 3 года назад
@@mayiask654 I DID research and it was entirely unclear, even on Roland's website. the X series is new, where I live in Europe it's been available only since February 15, so what you find online concerns the former FP-30/60/90 series, and, no, I have found NO TRACE online that 60 and 90 had the triple connectors - in fact, all the indications are that they didn't. I even exchanged with Roland's Customer Service: and as I was inquiring, indeed, about the 30X keyboard, which is the one I had in mind (and which I have since acquired - yeah, tough luck!), they confirmed that it was not compatible with the RPU--3 unit, and never mentioned the 60 and 90 X models. And now, I AM going to take the opportunity of this post to take back what I previously said: NO, the KPD-70 triple pedal unit (or bar, as it is fixed into one such bar) CANNOT be used independently from the KSC-70 stand - or at least, "easily".First, the wooden bar into which the unit is screwed DOES NOT LIE ON THE GROUND - the pedal unit protrudes at the bottom by something like a centimeter. The bar is MEANT to be screwed into the two side legs of the KSC-70 stand to give it stability, and NOT lie on the ground. The effect of that is that, when you want to use it independently, the lever effect of simply pressing on the pedal(s) will throw the complete bar off-balance and it will lopside to the front: UNUSABLE. Add to that that if you use a portable, X-shaped, foldable stand, as I do (I have a standard RTX RX-40 stand), the KPD-70 is always going to be longer than the width of your opened stand. Which means you can't even place the damned bar on the ground: the only way is to somehow place it over the stand's transversal metal tubes which serve as its footing (have a look here to visualize what I'm talking about: pickmypiano.com/electronic-keyboard-stands/), which makes the bar even more unstable, and thus DOUBLY UNUSABLE! Also: if you unscrew the actual pedal unit from the bar (you can, and that at least is easy) and try to use it independently, it isn't any more stable on the ground. So now (I only discovered all this yesterday, and it was a bad day!) I figure that I'm going to have to do a little fix of my own, screwing the unit onto a wooden board (I figure 50 cm length, 35 width and 1 depth) whose "protruding" front part will offset the lever effect of pressing on the pedals, and which I can place against the wall, under the legs of my portable stand, to give it stability (because that has been a problem with the RPU-3 unit) - but obviously that may work only if your keyboard is placed against a wall. Doesn't seem very complicated, even for a poor handyman like myself - so why doesn't Roland offer it? I DID my goddamn research, as I said I even had an exchange of correspondance with the people at Roland. Roland is TOTALLY silent about all this: they sell the pedal unit as if it were independent from the stand, and it is not. I'm very pissed with them.

You pay 2000 to have a piano sound inferior than a good vst and it doesnt even have modulation wheel or pitch shift..and the best you dont have nowhere to put the keyboard or the mouse..In few words they blackmail you to buy the better piano action that dont cost them almost nothing more than the inferior one that they put in the low range models..This is same bullshit situation with kawai and yamaha..MARKETING..Those companies obligate thousands of people (PARENTS KIDS STUDENTS ) ..to play in bad piano actions because they dont have 2000 dollars or more to buy a good one ..

@frwinston7259
@frwinston7259 3 года назад
No it doesn't. It's not the piano which doesn't allow it, but the current BT technology. Using wireless headphones through Bluetooth won't work well bcs there will be some latency (short delay) between your playing and what you will hear in your headphones. Same if you connect your TV with Bluetooth earbuds, sound and image will be out of synch. But maybe some new TV's have remedied that? I don't know. I've tried a little device (don't remember the brand) that you plug on the TV's headphones mini jack out, which announced the disappearance of this latency, but it actually didn't work well and in addition the sound of the TV had to be increased a lot.

Good question, the Fp 90x had a little update on the supernatural engine, now calls itself something else which can handle more polyphony, but that all, the rest is the same. For instance it is 2021 and still you can’t have dual layers with split mode. No access to the various effx hidden on the chip, if you sing...you can only add compression, delay and double effx on the voice??? What happened to the old good reverb and harmonizer from previous Fp7f? So Roland just give and take ....in my opinion
