“It is the 582nd year of the second era, the drums of war are sounding. This is where our journey begins.” This line read will never cease to give me chills, I miss it so.
I really enjoy this intro, and the introduction that you, the character you were is dead, killed by Mannimarco and the one you now play as is a mimic, a copy of everything that mortal once was, a Daedric vessel, a vestige. But not decayed like the other soul shriven, intact, a rare case, a perfect copy. At the end of this, does this make the Vestige a Daedra? Or simply immortal. The soul shriven are given bodies by Azure Plasm, the same stuff Daedra are made of, but now, this vestige has a mortal soul, but a immortal body.
I play through the original intro then get soul trapped and watch this video before and pretend that’s where I started from. I think it’s objectively a better set up narratively speaking.
So I have one thing that makes me mad they did not get the song 100% right that put "when the dark dragons lies will be silences forever and then" at two different points when it is only at one. Not to hate on them for it still really good.
Egregiously under viewed considering the reach of skyrim and incredibly impressive this was achieved with high schoolers. Knowing this is 10 years old i hope all involved are thriving now!
There's quite a few of choir renditions of this song, even high-productions from here in Sweden, yet I always keep coming back to this one. Skyrim and the Dragonborn is all about using your Voice and this arrangement is by far the most powerful one, makes me shiver evry tim.
Each expansion has changed the beginning. But this is the one I liked the most. And of all the characters i have created over the years, only 1 remains that experienced this intro.
My only probl m is why the hell are they singing in such a light voice. The song is not in soprano so I'm confused. It would be a lot better if it was sung in a lower pitch. But good song nonetheless.
