Gotta say 15 yrs later I’m grateful this video is still up and I found it. I’m I big Jer and LP fan, so watching him navigate that guitar to a sound somewhat familiar to his own “preferred” guitar is a fun watch…and from the first note it’s identifiably Garcia!
I love this. Foster parents in LA exposed me to mariachi music, and when i was adopted and went elsewhere I "forgot" about it. That's until 1984 when Los Lobos came to my college and played. I thought, I remember this. So much passion in the music. Saying that, they played at a bar in Dewey Beach Delaware in 1995, and i was escorted out for throwing gummy bears. Sorry guys.
I like this band. Think I'll get a { best of } remastered cd. As a sign of admiration, and respect. They hit pretty hard with both hands, and they kick like a mule.
In the shot that starts around 10:04 and again in a segment starting around 16:20 , you will see the one of rarest sights imaginable to lovers of this band--------Cesar Rosas without sunglasses!
I know what Im about to say will sound sacrilegious but David and Cesar are better players and more accomplished. Carlos has been playing the same beautiful but tired licks since the 60's.
