AI art being used by big companies to cut out workers is intrinsically bad but in regards to AI tools as someone who doesn't particularly like VTT's or BG3 it's weird to see D&D players suddenly drawing a line at the video gamification of their hobby, pretending that it hasn't been leading here all along.

I don’t mind AI being used for proofreading or checking grammar or even suggesting some ideas. Especially for smaller indie teams. I do mind when it’s used to generate a huge part of the content for a company as big a WoTC. I do mind when it’s replacing real people for the sake of increasing the profit margin.
The Succubus' _Charm_ isn't noted specifically as a gaze attack, so I would say no but a vampire - they already despise mirrors, so while it wouldn't reflect back _on_ them, perhaps it would effectively block it.
The Illusionist was my very first character I played when I played ADnD 1st edition. It was also my first experience with a role-playing game. I loved it so much, I immediately jumped into DMing after I bought and read the 3 books. So I played 1 time before I became a DM. That was challenging at first but I DMed for the next 15 years without even a break. So much fun.
DMing and playing the assassin is quite a unique experience. You need a good grasp of travel and time rules because this class demands some solo adventure during a regular session.
Colour me completely unsurprised. Does anyone really take any stance WotC makes at face-value these days? Those who want it will buy-in, others will not. The concept is actually kind of cool for those who just want some solo-gaming and an uber-oracle. All that gnashing of teeth about a lack of DM's, when arguably, it came down to DM's being tired of acquiescing to requests like a catering service-droid for players. Eventually, there will be some open-source version of this that hopefully allow one to play something else. Where's the link?
Most of the artwork in the new PHB is horrible, wouldn't be surprised if it was AI generated, and don't even get me started on their 'woke' changes to the rules. SMDH
I don't think the normies care. All of my players are buying (or preordered) the new PHB - they don't care about what WotC has been doing or plans to do. They want the new thing. I suspect that reflects the masses and those vexed enough with WotC to influence their buying decisions are in the extreme minority.
The Nu-"D&D" Walled Garden with the AI overlords is coming. They will monetize everything possible. The "books" will go digital by default. The Nu-"D&D" will be a sloppy digital trough built to squeeze as much money from the piggies as possible. D&D is dead. Long live D&D.
sometimes you have to read between the lines as they (WotC) phrase things very carefully...Even when WotC was on their apology tour after the first AI art dustup, they said "We require artist contributing to Magic or D&D products to refrain from using AI generative tools to create final Magic or D&D products" Note the use of the word FINAL! Its ok to use generative AI to do 90%, then just have one human touch it up and remove the sixth fingers?
WOTC buying into the hype and BS of AI! All AI knows it what its training data is, there will be nothing new and creative just a big huge steaming pile of WOTC turd data spit out by their AI. 🤮
