The problem with Bodybuilding is that your literally forcing the body to grow muscle by being inefficient and unfunctional. It's the only way the body can adapt and is actually a really bad way to train for real health and fitness. Body weight excercises that use the whole body as a functional system are far better for your whole body and fitness as your training your body to work in the way it was intended. Sure you won't look like an inflated meat head but if you really delve deep and think about it would you rather look like a beast or actually be one
There are those who are against TRX for hypertrophy because of its instability. I'm not sure how much I buy into that, as we have studies showing: - similar results in mass and strength to stable training - more muscle activation using suspension training
I am an ordinary individual with a strong determination to achieve weight loss and improve my physical fitness. Upon reaching this objective, my focus will shift towards sculpting and toning my body. It is important to note that my goal is not to excessively bulk up with muscles, but rather to enhance my overall fitness and well-being, ultimately becoming a superior version of myself. Around 12 months ago, I weighed over 270 lbs. To address this, I made the decision to join a gym and committed myself to intense workouts for a period of 6 months. I was pleased to see significant progress during this time. However, I must admit that I was disappointed by the behavior of some weightlifters at the gym. Certain individuals would hog the equipment, while others would simply sit and text, causing unnecessary delays. Considering my limited and valuable time, with only 60 to 75 minutes available for my workouts, this situation became quite frustrating. It would take me two hours just to get in a 75-minute workout. As a result, in the 7th month, I decided to discontinue my gym membership and instead focus on adopting a healthier diet. I also started incorporating biking into my home workouts. Recently, I purchased the TRX pro set, which involved drilling holes and installing brakes on a beam. I plan to cancel my gym membership in April and embark on a new fitness journey using resistance bands and the TRX system. With the right attitude and mindset, I am confident that I can achieve a physique similar to the gentleman showcased in the video, who has clearly made significant progress since he began. At present, I weigh 237 lbs, and I am experiencing more efficient weight loss.
I love suspension training I’m in my early 60s And weights are killing my muscles and joints The only thing that I would say doesn’t hurt me is a total gym But I don’t have room for one in my little condo So suspension training is it for me I’m seen muscle growth and tightness I haven’t seen in a long time This basic tool I wish I knew about years ago Too many years wasted, hurting myself with heavyweights Rock on
Hi Tony. Could you answer this question for me? Do you consider it more beneficial to exercise with ViPR (two different weights, e.g. 6kg and 12kg, i.e. two pieces of ViPR), or with Surge? I could have both for practically the same price, 1x Surge new, 2x ViPR old version, used (but in great condition, hardly used at all). Well thank you. 🙂
This exercise is best with a deflated swiss ball (diameter 65 cm or more), into which we pour several liters (maybe 1 - 6) of water (depending on the difficulty) and it is totally SAFE to do such shoulder circles with it... + it's great for grip (the deflated ball is held like 10 cm from its edge = thicker grip)
At 20 weeks, I believe I could walk. Not crazy, but could take my dogs for a walk without a TON of fear. They are pretty big and sometimes like to chase, but I was confident at least to do that
What I love about suspension training is the ease on the joints, how it builds up the tendons because of the time under tension in the fullest range of motion. It am older and was de-conditioned when I started lifting weights and though my muscles could handle heavy weight, I soon progressed beyond my tendons' ability to handle the weight which resulted in constant tendinopathy pain in my right hamstring and left arm. A total bummer that stopped my progress. Suspension training healed this when nothing else would. I think it's a miracle! It feels so healthy.
Hello, Nice video’s, I have a question. Do you still have swelling at the end of the day? I experience still swelling in the inside of the ankle when standing a Lot or end of the day. Im in week 20 My regards from the Netherlands
Hi. I'm years out from it now, but oddly enough, still to this day after everything, if I'm on it too long, there is a hint of swelling. Not much, but a tiny bit.
I’ve followed Tony’s philosophy, 8-12 rep range, time under tension and consistency all put together. And I can feel and see my muscles not only getting a mad pump, but gaining size. So if you want a calisthenics body TRX is a tool that can get you there.
I really like your videos. I'm in the middle of getting a suspension training system for my home to compliment my jiu-jitsu training. I like how you break things down show how you make the simple movements harder. I'm probably going to use the suspension system as my main piece of equipment for gaining functional strength. Do you think that's a good idea?
