😂 Christchurch, where a meth addict will offer to wash your car windows as the traffic lights turn green and when you say nah bro I'm good he'll wash it anyway 🤣🤣.in all honesty the biggest crime here in chch is the amount of traffic infringements being handed out,Id be surprised if chch cops could actually police chch if they had half the chance
Councils across NZ are now in many cases completely out of control and have been given far too much discretionary power which they and their employees do not use sensibly , they are typically full of people making decisions on personality's as apposed to smart timely ones. I have countless examples across NZ and still we support these people to force unworkable legislation on us so it's not hard to see why anyone with any common sense is hopping it to Australia , it's not cheap to live either but in the main it functions sensibly which is more than most could honestly say about NZ. In short very few as they've eluded too here have any faith now in our councils nor likely too , this Chch CeO debacle was and is case and piont .
privacy issues aye.... sounds suspect as..usually when the police/govt do that with something like this it turns out down the track the narrative and info about the ppl involved becomes questionable and murky at best often indicating and revealing police/govt involvement as a clandestine operation being carried out and whos motives are never clearly explained why they would do such things . common sense will tell you why they would do this then allow it to be publicized in media further giving ammo to a current narrative in which the facts dont match the claims made and level of policing that is being used
How can this guest seriously say that cycle ways don't make cycling safer! How would you feel cycling down harewood road with people wizzing past at 60+kms with your kids. Hey fat-assess, try biking sometime, you may like it
Good interview Chris. Particularly your request for info on going public with descriptions of offenders from CCTV 'evidence'. Human rights? Presumably this is to protect the offender. What about the human rights of victims? I detect an ethnicity question no one is prepared to ask in fear of the not so new, woke attitude of Policing in New Zealand. Racial profiling? Ha!
There will likely be a vigilante situation come up involving firearms or other weapons. It will be very interesting to see how that pans out. 15 years ago an intruder in Papakura was shot by a householder, I think he went to court. The offender got a few shotgun pellets, and may well have gone on to do more illegal stuff.
What a surprise. Go soft on crime and the criminals and get even more crime and criminals. Clearly the softly, softly approach doesn’t work at all. Doesn’t matter how deprived these entitled, thugs background is.
The cycle ways have been put in front of parks taking away parking , in streets that are two narrow so it’s taken car parks away and made it that cars can’t drive on the street in opposite directions, they have made a hazard in some streets , why put cycle ways in streets that are full of flats that make the st high populated and imped the street more and make a safety concern, and this part of the cycle way is really used, I put it to you that there was minimal thought to town planning or impact to residents, just a bad council decision
I have cycled all my life as both a commuter and for pleasure. Tne main danger to cyclists are cyclists themselves! The public highway is not the personal gym of the very aggressive, supplement fuelled lycra brigade.
Rural here and we simply don’t bother with cops since 4 years ago we called 111 for an armed home invasion…they NEVER turned up and a week later we got a call asking if our ‘issue’ got resolved. We know where we stand now and act accordingly. Cities need to form their own groups and protect their own…then watch the police and courts cry. The real power lays with the people…if they can be bothered
We don’t have full time police or emergency services staff up here there’s not enough work for them so you can frame it however it suits you at the time
Time to charge parents. The father whose child shot hunter got charged. These kids have no parents that are showing them respect of others. Bs not to be able to apprehend. They pray on it.
I wonder how many of these young offenders once apprehended, will qualify for the new attorney generals "guidelines" and avoid a sentence fitting the crime - or even worse, avoid a conviction altogether. With these guidelines based on ethnicity (Maori automatically qualify for more concessions than non Maori New Zealanders), it will be interesting to see just how these individuals are eventually prosecuted and subsequently sentenced. One way to even up the balance in prisons I guess...
Serious offending that police don't want to aggravate. Take their lead and don't add more to the story than neccesary. Be conscious of giving people a fair trial. Wow, stop presenting stories to the public as if they are true stories, until you get the true facts. (The kidnapped dog returned safely story) Dont gossip and spread rumours. Dont he catastrophic about events before they actually are It's unwise. Don't exasperated the conditions. The dangerous risk is apparent, in an instant a wrong can be catastrophic, and it's a high concern for Police. Good wise cop. Don't make things worse as a do goober story teller. with a public platform. This cop sounds like he genuinely cares about people, families and the community. It's good to hear about their principled rules of engagement when seeking to aporehend assailants. Makes real good sense. Ps - I'm not meaning to be rude. I say my thought life. And I might be wrong. My intent is not to directly offend you. (Do you have unrealized trauma?)
Im sorry? Are you serious? The police have said these people deliberately tried to run pedestrians over , does there need to be any excuse for that kind of behavior? I'm sure if someone aimed a vehicle at you , you would expect something to be done about it .
