Awesome video probably one of the most difficult hikes in Yakima county , the only one I did there that was more difficult was a hike into Devils Washbasin lake dropping down from Bear Creek Mountain across the shale fields the scrambling up Devils Horns about 600' to the lake.

That's a great hike. In the early 70s when I was in high school, a couple buds and I did it on a similarly beautiful day. There were far fewer people on the mountain back then. I remember that some of the guides and their charges who were preparing to camp and push for the top kind of looked down their noses at us. We figured they thought they were the real mountaineers and we day hikers were in their space.

We did our thru hike in early September. We had no significant issues with mosquitoes-usually by mid August, mosquitoes really start to decline for the summer.

A nice little hike. I bet your dog enjoyed that soak. A soon as I saw the creek I thought my dog would be straight in that water, she's not great on hot exposed hikes but I do have a cooling jacket for her that works well too.

Our pooch dislikes to exposed spring hikes--so she definitely heads for the water and it's difficult to get her out!

You mentioned you had your backpack dropped off at the campsite you reserved. Hmm...how did you arrange that? Sounds like a great option. Do you know if that's a possibility at any of the other sites, i.e. Moore Point if the ferry stops there?
@richardswearingenoutdoors
@richardswearingenoutdoors 3 месяца назад
Sorry-I reviewed that video segment and I was not clear. I dropped my backpack off at my campsite because the trail passed right through it. I then walked the rest of the way into Stehekin without it.

@@richardswearingenoutdoors thanks for clarifying! I was thinking what a fantastic service if the ferry had an option for that, although I'd be a bit concerned about it sitting there until I arrived! Off to hike that trail soon!

Thanks for this. It’s so important to get a glimpse of what you’re hiking beforehand. I can see how it’s easy, but trust me folks this place is remote. Get fog or snow and you should stay put. You won’t be able to see the trail and lots of places to get lost.
