Mars will go down in music history as one of the most innovative and talented guitarists in modern history. There is no question. The only reason why he is not currently higher on the famous guitarist musician list is bc Mick was always a humble unassuming man who shunned the spotlight at all times so interestingly, he selflessly and gladly let the 3 other lower talent little punks ( Vince, Tommy and Nicky) take all the credit while Mick just let his talent do the walking. Every musician expert and academic musical expert knows the real reason why Crue was one of the highest selling hard rock bands of all time but strangely, not all has the courage to state that it is Mick that brought the Crue to the global success it became. He's the only reason why I love Crues music to this day, his guitar work, period!
This guy can’t solo. Don’t try to be in denial. Imagine him trying to give a solo on a guitar without the whammy bar! That’s the only redeeming part of the instrument he can hel himself out to the other side after a noisy couple of minutes or so.
I dont have to imagine that, there’s tons of vids of him using his black les paul & soloing without a vibrato bar as well as quite a few lead breaks where he doesn’t use a bar

This word “Underrated” gets used way too much and it’s use is always incorrect, MM isn’t underrated like most comments her say, for those who know would place him highly in technical ability, but M Crew is a band, you have a drummer, bassist and singer all portray their issues or escapades in every commercial avenue unlike MM who’s quiet in comparison, but still a unit that out perform majority of modern bands in every way, thus doesn’t make him underrated just not noticed... MM has his own tone that no one else has (Richard Fortus has now, as he owns his ‘73 SL Marshall head) and one of two guys (EVH) who’s ability on a term-am like a third limb to play the guitar is amazing,.. If I had an ounce of his technical playing ability, I’d be on tour across the planet...

Mick Mars is the reason I play guitar. Pure inspiration for me. The phrasing, the structure, all of it. So many beautifully crafted solos. He shows the flash when it is warranted, just to let you know that he knows all the tricks too, but he does what the song needs. When I'm working out a solo and trying to decide which way to go with it I just think WWMD - What Would Mars Do?
