Adventures with Autism is a channel dedicated to documenting our family adventures with our autistic children. Our family of 5 includes the children Robert, Louise and James along with myself Matthew and my wife Emma. Adding to the chaos we also have the cats Meow, Nala and Kion along with our latest addition, the Labradoodle Rusty. Hopefully watching this channel helps you understand the day to day challenges of family life with a child with autism.
We tried, however the shows were cancelled the day we were there due to water quality! We won’t get chance to go back this season to see it. We do have last years show though
Hello When collecting your RAP, did they check for photo ID? Also, you mentioned you received the physical card in the post? I didn't get the option for that. Do they give the physical RAP card there?
Amazon. We have been through quite a few but these are the best ones we’ve had. Built in screen protector and a handle that doubles as an adjustable stand. amzn.eu/d/3UVF3k0
Thank you! I just got mine approved today and was a bit unsure how it works. We are travelling to Lego Land in May so will be the first time using it then!
The gt line s is a 70k plus car.......not being rude but with all your kids and all your other expenses etc, how on earth do you afford the payments? Salary sacrifice?
Having ride access and not being at Thorpe park before I found this very helpful and because deren browns ghost train is now just ghost train is the access line still the same on it
I’m glad we can help. I need to do a good update video. Had planned to this week but all good plans as they say! 🤦 I will try again in the summer after Hyperia opens
@@AdventureswithAutism yeah I totally understand ! Some videos of mine take literally a week to edit ! Some days if I have a day off work I’m literally editing for 8 hours straight ahaha
Wonder If the rap pre books are here to stay. We managed to all we wanted. Hope you had a fun day. Heading to alton towers for the first time in 3 weeks
I think they will be. We seemed to pick the wrong day to go with large queues and a few breakdowns. Going down south next week to the other parks so will get a better idea then!
This is an amazingly useful review! Nice to see a few more details about the car than most car reviewers show, being able to restrict the vehicle to load for example. We have a Sorento currently and two autistic daughters, plus a dog, and am mulling over changing to the EV9 when our current lease expires in a year. So this had really helped, thank you.
@@AdventureswithAutism yeah that was immediately obvious as I went back to watch your Sorento review. I've had an hours test drive in the EV9 so I'm quite keen although will probably stick with the Air model. Anyway, will watch some more of your content from an ASD perspective. Both my kids are ASD, both very sensory and one with PDA.
@@AdventureswithAutism I’m thinking of ev9 but the ott tech bongs put me off I get it’s for safety but it an eu directive and we aren’t in the eu Imo Kia should turn this off by default or atleast give you the option That and real world range is my worry No local Kia wants to lend us a car for a full 24 hours which is off putting as that’s the only way to test believable range
@user-ow9po1yf2s I would say we are getting between 2.1-2.8 miles/kwh with the lower end being on Motorway driving. The bongs you get used to and as long as you are under the speed limit they don’t go off. We are loving it really
Nice clear practical review without any silly nonsense. It looks like a nice big family car for those who have access to reliable charging and can afford to finance £65k for the base model and not much less than £80k for the top spec with options. What's the insurance like if you don't mind saying so? It'll be interesting to see what effect depreciation has in the next year or two as to whether it'll then be a more realistic option for average families.
i'm your 200th subscriber (: and I love the vid. as someone with autism who struggles with standing in a queue for too long this video on how to use the pass really helps. I went to towers and was confused on how to work the pass
We are glad to have you! Have you seen our other videos done at Alton Towers? (We had to do two due to the size of the park!) Hopefully going to do an update this upcoming season
What exactly are you implying? What you didn't see is the multiple times they left the queue to have a breather, or go to the toilet or just to have some space. Or the time when my eldest went and sat in the space of the entrance with a phone. It's not all about the length of time waiting, but the way you can wait. Normal queue lines to not allow for space to move, or space for one of them to step out of line for a short while. Instead they are full of judgemental people like yourself who have no idea what it is like for children with additional needs. I suggest you keep your snide comments to yourself and carry on your day regardless.
Hey I have a question about booking for Thorpe park I have a ride access ID (it is in date) is this what I need to get the RAP on the day or do I need to apply for something different beforehand Thanks
As long as your Merlin Ride Access card is in date that is all you need. Just take the card to guest services and they will give you the paper counterpart.
You can go to guest services on the day with Thorpe park and take medical information to get a temporary one that lasts 7 days but you can only do it once and you must apply for a full one for the next visit.
What a fab tent set up you have. This is the reason we built a campervan as we find it so much easier with our asd son rather than hotels, just even for cooking for him with his very limited food choices 🙂
Thanks for the video very informative. We are a family of five. I read that you can oay £25 to add an extra person on so that all five of us could us this this rather than just the four. Do you know if that is correct?
Just came across your video as we are going to legoland with our 10yo asd son in July. Just wanted to say thank you for this informative video. It has eased my mind as I was anxious about the queueing. Going to apply for this card, but as we're in Ireland do you know if they will accept the AsIAm card for his application? Thank you again.
I’m really glad this will help! Unfortunately I don’t know if they will accept that card, the best thing I can suggest is apply for the card as soon as possible, provide as much evidence as possible such as diagnosis letters etc.
I attended on the Saturday. The VW ID Buzz was getting a lot of attention and there is definitely potential as a family/lifestyle vehicle. The BYD cars give an insight into the type of thing we can expect from China in the future and I think it will definitely have us thinking again before buying the European brands that we are used to. My personal favourite though was the Microlino.. I agree that there wasn't as much to see as the Farnborough show.
I was speaking to a few vendors and they said that some people didn’t come as they weren’t sure if it would be worth it but did send “spies” to check it out. Hopefully they got a good impression and will make it bigger next year! The byd would make a good second car for us. We are waiting for the Kia EV9 to be released. We really need the 7 seats
@@AdventureswithAutism I still like my IC cars though feel that a lot of the modern three cylinder models just don't hit the spot for me, more do the high performance cars. We actually traveled there in my dad's Renault Zoe EV which he has owned since 2017 and he is a big supporter of EV's.
I’ve never really been a big car guy, more gadgets and technology so EVs are perfect for me lol. Plus charging at home is much more convenient for our hectic lifestyle
@@AdventureswithAutism I think for most EVs will work well. I myself do a pretty short commute these days and would rarely need to charge away from home. I do like tech but I think cars are getting too much focus on tech these days and not enough focus on the driving experience. Cars don't need crazy amounts of power to be entertaining and that goes for every segment of the market. I also feel that MPV'S were much better than the typical.SUV that's now on sale as they were far more versatile. Especially for larger families.
We need a 7 seat but need an SUV for height and comfort etc. Plus most the affordable EV 7 seat have rubbish range. My wife uses the car for work so we are doing 2100 miles a month
