Did you need to wire the 6M cable from the amp in the trunk to the head unit? Plan on doing this myself and not sure if I need to buy the cable or not.
I did not, I believe you only do this if you wish to bypass the factory AMP (don’t use the fibre optic decoder box) but then your subwoofer won’t work.
@@Ajgarage Gotcha, so with how you wired it, were you able to keep all of the Harman Kardon speaker functions/surround sound? My belief was that I needed to wire the 6M cable to keep all the speakers working but I'm not so sure anymore
@@richardcchau That’s initially what I thought but it actually gets rid of it all. The way I did it, you still loose the ability to use Logic 7 and choose fader controls on speakers, it will only be able to be adjusted basic left / right. As the optic decoder box changes the fibre optic to RCA inputs they only run off left & right not like fibre optic. I think the only real way around it is to install a whole new amp and new speakers. So this way was the most efficient option for me to retain all the speakers / sub. I believe the 6M cable that plugs in bypasses the whole factory AMP and only runs off headunit straight to speakers
@@Ajgarage Hmmm okay, I wish there was a better option for these HK W211s. I notice a pretty big difference turning Logic 7 on and off so it's something I'd want to keep. I think I'll just end up suffering with this 20 year old screen and just installing another subwoofer in the trunk :/
@@richardcchau Yeah it’s annoying! I was the same, but I was so used to having CarPlay in other cars , and my old units screen was busted anyway so I just went for it. The sound is actually pretty decent though so I’m happy with it
my only complaint on the roof spoiler is on the very ends of each side they dont line up flush with the rear quarters.. me personally i stare at gaps and body lines it just drives me nuts.. nice spoiler though
I think that the Blaupunkt Frankfurt would fit better. The Bremen is for 70/ early 80s cars, the Frankfurt for 80/90s. The buttons are more BMW E31/36. The Bremen would fit perfectly to an E30/32/34. Thanx for the installinment video, this helps me for a Frankfurt E36 Cabrio combination.
Impressed by the one handed disassembly 😄Another good idea while the battery tray is off is to clean the 3 ground bolts underneath it. Undo everything, brush down both threads, reassemble and grease. Twill save many an hour wondering why random electrical components won't work.
After 11 years of ownership I simply cleaned all the battery earth to car body and bell housing and no more lazy battery starts or starter motor squeals
