Hi Shawn I guess you asking about freshwater. There are no good venues for carp that I am aware of so at the moment we drive as far as Bloemhofdam and a few other dams in the Free State. We also do Stompdrif Dam in the Western Cape. Kommandodrif Dam other side of Cradock is very good but the dam is just too full at the moment with lots of structure in the water so we waiting for it to drop down a bit. We tried Loerie Dam but it's not easily accessible but if you do top water for bass it may work for you.
we always use to stay over at least 2 nights. On 9 January 2023 the Addo National Park management closed the fisherman's camp for the general public so you have to be a group of at least 10 people now and organize a permit to go and fish there (unfortunately).

@@yolandivangent4803 It was devastating news to us as we often shot some awesome footage there for social media. We did try and enquire but you just walk into a stone wall and no answers. An absolute pity as it is one of the best camping and fishing spots in South Africa. I can even compare it to a fishing paradise such as Bloemhof dam.

Hi Basil Okay hulle het nie eintlik ‘n booking sisteem nie maar bel hierdie cell nommer (060)968 3217 dan kom jy by die hek uit wat lyk my die besprekings hanteer. Hulle het geglo ons kom en die plek vir ons gehou en ek het eers betaal (swipe) toe ons daar kom. Jy sal moontlik moet wag tot Maandag 8uur om te bel maar die nommer hier bo sal defnitief werk vir jou. Njoy.👌👊😎
Hi Adrian Ons is van Despatch en stompies is die beste karp fishing dam na hulle Darlington hier naby ons toegemaak het. Dit was ons 4de en beste besoek (new moon en die air pressure was reg) so die vis het goed gebyt. Ons loop mekaar dalk raak daar by stompies vorentoe.👍👊😎
Hi Barry The Addo management have closed the dam on 9 January 2023 and we have little hope that it will ever reopen. If you are a group like angling club you may apply for a permit and acknowledge that you will take your own toilet but how long will this process take. This closure is devastating to us as we now travel vast distances to other provinces to find suitable venues 😞
That dam has a lot of muddies. Next time, drive over the dam and before you get to Ruigtevallei Substation, turn left and fish the waters that side. That is part of a deeper part of the dam as its closer to the dam-wall.
