Yeah, just read Speer’s book, mentioned that after the explosion if he had just recruited his own men to arrest the officials in the room they may have pulled it off, but in his view they acted way too hastily/carelessly…otherwise he would’ve realized instantly that Hitler survived, and by leaving made himself an easy target

I love everything about the movie, the real history and this scene............but, when an explosion goes off in Hitler's inner chamber AND you are the only one seen fleeing the scene like a bat out of hell, guess who they are going to suspect and go after??? is this really how it went down??
Yes, a book by Hitler’s architect Speer actually reasoned that after the explosion he should have had his own men charge in and make arrests of all in the room, but it was in his view carried out too hastily and carelessly…Hitler obviously sat right up and it wasn’t hard to figure out who did it…less than 24 hrs….Speer was actually in hot water because the conspirators had his name on a sheet of paper as a potential person to help them…😂 the guy wasn’t crazy about Hitler’s ideology either but if you’re gonna take em out, take him out..Hitler didn’t bat an eye in sending someone to a concentration camp or have executed on the spot…kinda disturbing 😳
My parents grew up in Nazi Germany and I remember their stories of how relieved everyone was that Hitler was ok after this attempt in his life. He was invincible until he took his own life.
These men had steel balls and a bravery I can't ever hope to achieve. They ALL were willing to die to achieve their goals. But imagine, Staffenberg and others were in Hitler's direct presence at various times and could have just drawn their sidearm and ended it. This would likely have resulted in their immediate death. Says something about human psychology that although you can be brave beyond measure, it is very difficult to do something that will DEFINITELY result in your end.
