En Perú los trabajadores dejaron la fuente de iridio en el piso y por desgracia cayo en las manos de un soldador que con su buena intención de recoger alguna pieza que había perdido el jefe se lo metió en el bolsillo y se lo llevo a casa, no volvió hasta el día siguiente y hablo con el ingeniero, recién se habían dado cuenta del accidente (ni los radiólogos que perdieron la pieza). Este hombre soldador era de escasos recursos y ni siquiera sabia que era la radiación, era el único sustento de su familia y trabajaba en negro por la necesidad. Terminó perdiendo la pierna y parte de sus órganos, vive con constantes dolores y heridas. Nunca lo indemnizaron ni buscaron culpables, su esposa y hijos pequeños hacen lo imposible por seguir adelante
Well, we do. I work for QSA. This video is just stupidly crazy and I cant belive, that a state agency taking care of the radiation safety produced such a dangerous shit. This is a guide how NOT to react in the case of lost control of the source. These sources are up to 150Ci IR192. Did you see him unscrewing the hose with his hand like 10cm from the source? Well, with a fresh source, this is like 100mSv per 10 second he spend doing it. And yes, the shielding they use is a piece of shit. And shaking the source out of the tube so it can roll over the floor??? What the actual fuck. These people know absolute shit and it may cost people lives. They are using the equipment wrongly - did you see the operator, when the source got stucked, how he cranked the controls with big force? This is against the most basic training. It would make the source get stucked at the constriction and not being able to move back forward. Also, there has never been a case of OUR source disconnecting from the controls. They get disconected when people use cheap shit sources from South Africa, or dont do the prescribed maintanance of their controls.
