So you had to take out the rubber pieces and replace them with the product (Vaseline etc.) or did you have to apply the Vaseline to the rubber pieces? There's a jump in the video that makes me think the actual instructions are missing or maybe I missed something. Either way, thanks for posting this! I just got my hands on a VFX SD that was internally upgraded to an SD-1 32 and the aftertouch on the black keys is great but it only works on the white keys if you do it up close to the chassis between the black keys etc.
If only the keybeds weren't such shit. It's even worse due to the fact that the Montage sound engine isn't designed to be played via an external keyboard.
One of the best "demos" of the P800 out there ,well played and programmed. And as for your opinion about Behringer and their "cloning" of vintage synths ,agree that they are replicas ,not clones, like a software emulation in a computer, but in Behringers case made out of hardware parts.
Really nice sounds from an incredible machine. The sounds for the price are just fantastic. The Poly Mod section is slightly lacking from a full Prophet 5 but it's mostly the same machine, especially now with noise that the P600 lacked without the Gligli mod.
The Pro 16 is still in development and will have all the features of a Prophet 5. Until then, the Pro 800 brings a lot of the sounds for less than 400€. If you can't wait, Dave Smith will happily deliver a selection of amazing synth with original Prophet DNA. Ok, it's another price range but also another level of build quality. The great thing today is you have all those options to choose from.
@@HrWisch Indeed. I'd never substitute my original Rev 3 Prophet 5 for some sounds only a P5 can get, but the 800 works amazingly for most stuff. Plus it's a module so far easier to move around my studio than my old (and to this old man, a bit heavier than I remember, LOL) real Prophet 5. :) It is amazing times we live in for sure, to have these options!
Interface, multiple voices and aditional bells and whistles aside ....just in terms of raw character, how do you feel the Pro-800 stacks up against the UB-Xa?
Are those stock presets or your own .? Nice video , imho , this is not a beginner synth at all µ.... beginners will not be using its full potential , and so will be left with a mixed feeling , they absoluty need fx ect ... a deepmind , or korg Xd , modal would be more appropriate , the pro 800 is imho for conaisseur !!
I have the unit. Yeah, sounds very retro! Did you've tried the latest FW? I'm not sure that mine is the last. I've found that Polymod depth is not deep enough. So I'm just hoping that they will fix it. It could be an option (with a multiplier). Sysex has at least one free value (I've checked) if not more (depends on the size they've chosen).
Thanks for the info, I will check it out I think the latest fanfare I update that it was about 3 to 4 months ago? But I have the unit for about eight months now, and I didn’t discover any problems so fair.
@@synthmaniak No, it's not a problem actually. _Maybe_ I just read that in the 1st firmware versions the depth for Polymod modulations was deeper. You can create really pronounced FM sounds with this.
Thanks for sharing. However, I stated in this video that level of effects are ver low. Might be slightly more reverb than chorus however, both effects are extremely low. So most of the signal i dry, and the corals are used as the custom-made using TonePrint app. The chorus signal is extremely low so I don’t know how you hear in the wall of chorus there?
I've been eyeing one of these for a little while now. I've been seeking the right companion for my DM12, I have that and I wanna get to a point where I have maybe 2 other synths and just work exclusively with those.
Hi there, I have the Behringer DM-12 snd made at same point I might make sound comparison, In mean time,,Pro 800 8 voices, mono out and don't have any of FX,, plus sonically sounds closer to the Prophet 600/ Prophet 5 with I preferred. If II nee to pick the winner, I preferred, as for only sound alone I will pick Pro-800. As for Deep Mind 12 have12 voices of polyphony, Lcd screen and stereo out's. But the bigger advantage of DM-12 is the bill in FX. Biocide's they just sounds different, so to compassion will be hard. With the DM-12 is passable create big pads and wider stereo feel and sounds closer to tone of Juno 106 The Pro 800 just sounds good and sounds closer to prophet-600 /5 I hope that this will answer your question
My two cents: I think the DM12 is a good "gigging" synth, with the built in FX and low financial accident risk. The Pro-800 is better for bedroom song-smithing. Layering mono tracks with more sound shaping at the oscillators, and adding FX, when needed, later in the workflow, potentially from more curated sources.
Hi Mitch you maked a good demo, it always a pleasure for me to hear and see somebody able to play a kayboard 😉 I am agree with you, firstall the Pro 800 sound I think it's like much more Prophet 5 Rev3 than Pro 600, becouse 3340 VCO and 3320 VCF clone there's inside. Not Pro 600 components IC was replicated in Pro 800. For this way it imitate the all synthesizers where 3340 VCO and 3320 VCF Cem was installed: OB-Xa OB-8 OB-SX Elka Synthex (3320 VCF) Crumar Spirit (3340 VCO) and many others synth used 3340 VCO. I hope to buy it soon 😊
It does sound close to my Prophet 5 Rev 3, you are correct. Worth buying for sure, maybe even buy two, do a master detune, and get a stereo system without using any pedals. I've been toying with the idea of buying a second one just for that reason alone.
@@drsamurai009 For me, got only one Pro 800 its ok. I create a stereo audio using effect insert in parallel on channel strip bus 😉 Infact many mixing engineering used this way to create imaging stereo on mono audio Prophet 5.
To answer your question, it takes decades of sound programming experience. And sonic is the one even as digital when mix the wave level with combination of envelope, 1.2.3 as well LFO’s that can make sound more organic closer to analog behavior. I’ll learn how to use the strength of the synthesizer and not too much on the weaker side.
This is my favorite synth ever. The piano sounds aren't convincing, and the 80s drums are sub par at best. So, why do i love this synth so much? Simple, this synth really shines with its strings, basses, leads, pads & synthpop analog style sounds. Think Erasure & Depeche Mode. Very warm. It also has the easiest and best on board sequencer ever. I've written hundreds of songs on it.
Hi there, Many of the sounds patches in this demo are made or modified by me through many years. Sme patches are originally used are free and paid sources. However, all of these patches are modified to same extent. Unfortunately at this time are not for sale just jet.
I thought that there is no more support for Ensoniq synths. I have a (very very) old VFX sd, in which several problems appeared as time passed and no one could provide me with a solution. So I put it in a corner just to remember I once bought it.😢😢
The Ensoniq VFX is comparable similar synth but there well know for having more problems then SD1. Unfortunately, depends what problems you have, you can ether fixed or replaced with better shape model.
Hey man, I don’t quite fully understand your question? North story defend kind of keyboard. It’s more stage keyboard. This is music workstation/synthesizer from late 80s and you can’t compare this to Nord.
As for the sounds patches unfortunately are not for sale. Since our program many of those sounds as well, purchase Sam othersound banks and also browse the free from libraries and then I start customize them, which took me years of doing that. I don’t think I’m gonna just give my work for free, but those are just demonstrating the sound possibilities of this synthesizer
This was the first bitimbral synth with preset memory (which the Prophet did have). It was revolutionary at the time. So now this iteration has 16 voices and poly aftertouch. Better than vintage and very affordable. No effects keeps the price down. I really want one to pair with my Kronos. It will force me to finally learn how to connect external synth to Kronos excellent effects. And also finally control Kronos with polyphonic aftertouch. Its many synth engines respond to it. Kronos aftertouch is too hard for me, like Roland it requires too much effort. Plus, metal body synth with wooden side panels will look good above my Kronos. Plus, cheaper than Hydrasynth with same voice count. I really want one.
Hallo, I have the Sequential (Deve Smith) Prophet Rev-2, and Sequential OB-6 module. So, just for synths comparison and so is Arturia 8, Prophet 5V/ OB-XAV, the Behringer UB-Xa in my opinion sounds great!
Hi, I have problems with sending sysex patches from MIDI-OX to the UB-Xa. Receiving patches on MIDI-OX works fine also send & receive on Virus-KC and any other synt. Does someone know what can be wrong?
Hi, I have similar problem using sys-ex with sending back from UB-XA the individual patches, however works when sending bank ? Not a deal breaker but I hope that this be fixed with next update?
Just remember that you're listening to a behringer... not an Oberheim, not even a clone of an Oberheim. It just looks like it might be an Oberheim but don't be fooled. It doesnt sound anywhere near an Oberheim. Am I a synth snob? No, just an Oberheim owner spreading the truth...behringer clones suck. Your Welcome.
Thanks for your honest opinion. I don't share the same view about bashing any brand including Behringer. I program synths for about 37 yers. I judge individual product bace on sonic potential as well experience of the sound and care only about end resold of the sound.
Who cares? There is Behringer badge right? besides I'm glad that I don't have pay 8K-10K for old used and potensialy broken original OB-Xa synth. I only care about experience and end result sound ad the end. I take may chances with UB- XA or any other Behringer product, as long that the sound is very close to original. Besides I own manny other original synths. so give me break. Sir just have differed mindset, that is all. Peace
