Hello! My name is Elysse. I am so happy you have found your way here.

Raised in Ottawa and currently based in Toronto, I am hoping to make ballet and balletic conditioning more accessible to anyone that loves to move. I am a classical ballet teacher, trained at Canada's National Ballet School, specializing in the Cecchetti Syllabus (CC) and National Dance (AISTD).

Following graduation from my degree in Physical and Health Education, my love for the intense challenges of technique, expression, and artistry in the world of dance and ballet outweighed any logical notions of job security - and so, I am here, pursuing my dream without any ounce of regret.

Each Monday I will be posting a different ballet info/lifestyle video, and every Thursday a ballet class in barre, center, or conditioning categories etc.
I hope you will subscribe and join me on this new challenge!

Congratulations Elysse! I am very happy for you and I am excited to hear about your journey in dance and as an athlete. Maybe biking, running, swimming and so on can really help you in getting incredible Stamina. I am very impressed with your dance and it brings me great joy to see your sharing your gifts with those around. I think you don't know just how big an impact you are able to make in caring for others though teaching people dance and with that teaching people athleticism that with all the lame lies out there that are not true we see here as some of my neighbors get attacked by pigs and dogs it is good to know that through people being athletic they can for themself be prepared to protect themselves in times of trouble. I like watching, reading, and listening to legal talk about situations going on in life and I believe it is so important for people to be ready to protect themselves from wolves in sheeps clothing pretending to be friend but rather rather are inappropriate in how believe they can just hurt another even to the point of being a rapist and a murderer saying it was how they looked that made okay to assault the other person not making a judgement on ones character but making a judgement on the way they simply looked as person and not even how they were dressed! It's pretty Elysse and with people enjoying exercising that is the key to people choosing to exercise and through choosing to exercise it can make a big difference in terms of the quality of a persons life. So many people over estimate things like money when they have their needs met and neglect to remember that in how one lives their life in getting lots of exercise and maintaining their relationships in a caring manner we are able to experience a high quality of life even when we are a starving artist. I think what you are doing is just amazing. Have you thought about starting a website dedicate to your career in dance? This could be a life long thing for you in terms of teaching people dance as well as cross training in other areas for dancers. Another great thing about dance is that it can help people get more in tune with their surroundings when one is maintaining an awareness of the bodily senses in way that can help get outside their head and can help people become more coordinated with that. I have been doing research that I started back in 2018 on how dance can improve one's ability to perform precision tasks with their body with greater accuracy. Dance is not everything it is only part of life and if people thought it was everything they would obviously be exaggerating but dance can be a very helpful part of life. So as we here in the big picture of life one area that can really help dancers in the importance of caring for one another in relationships and of course that is a more important thing than dance. Some people make dance more important than caring for their neighbor and that is unfortunate that some people can be very talented and just don't care about their neighbors and that can be very demoralizing when people may be very talented but don't have it together in terms of caring for others in the way they want to be treated that is unfortunately all to often. And in seeing some of these legal situations where someone is being a pig and dog and thinks they can attack their neighbor without a regard to that neighbors concept of innocence just as I saw a man by the name of Daniel Bartlett attack two of my neighbors in this state of Wisconsin where I live in July of 2013 this man was being a pig and a dog and that is why it is amazing to see that a woman was prepared and was able to restrain the dog and pig however he did get away and murdered a neighbor which is horrible but it goes to show that it really is important for people to be ready to protect themselves. There are even politicians who look to how Daniel Bartlett was acting in attacking Melissa Etzler and Jessica Blodgett and in the x's and o's of it all they say they hungry to do the same thing to their neighbors kind of like the Hercules song by the name of I won't say I'm in love where essential it at least looks like the singer is not saying they are in love and yet they seem like they might be. So it is so horrible when shameful politicians in the United States here as well as in Canada say they can attack their neighbors without a regard to their neighbors concept of innocence just like Adolf Hitler would also attack his neighbors without a regard his neighbors concept of innocence. You that when it comes to assault those who try to complain about assault would not go and do the same thing like those who complain about computer and video simulators that help us be prepared to protect Able from Cain and yet claim they will not put down their assault weapons of knives that they claim need to play the part of Cain in the book of Genesis assaulting Able making him scream and cry and those calls for help also show us that these pigs and dogs in the United States and Canada shameful politicians think nothing of consent and couldn't handle being treated the way they treat others since they do not do unto others as they would have done unto them maintain that higher ground. It is great to see you have such powerful motivation and achieve such a great level in terms of your athleticism. That is amazing and you keep it up and remember you can have great joy in knowing you are making difference in peoples lives and even saving them like a super hero you are in helping people become athletic so they can protect themselves from the shameful politicians who are indistinguishable from Adolf Hitler when they "choose" to be Cain as their identity and kill "Able" without a regard to his concept of innocence. And that is too bad because just like in the British rock song American by the British rock band Killing Joke we see just like the coin rising over the horizon in the music video choosing to be Cain makes one indistinguishable from Adolf Hitler as we see that when it comes to murder here are those who are trying to destigmatize what those pigs and dogs did in the 1930's and 1940's in murdering those they did not like but it was not doing unto others as they would have done unto them. That is one reason many are scared to go to Canada after people being eaten by the bears in Banff in September of last year in 2023 for Doug and Jenny and their dog. That is so sad and I guess some people say wrongfully that Canadians are just irresponsible for protect themselves from the grizzly bears who see them as food and eat them for dinner. That's so Elysse just that song You should be here by Cole Swindell. So sad but you part of the help in helping people be ready to protect themselves from the pigs and dogs and that makes you a super hero! Super hero Elysse to the rescue for the people who can't make it on their own because they need you to show them the benefits for exercising when they need it to save their life and or the lives of others like my grand father did fighting for good in this world in the 1940's in the pacific theatre of war during world war two like in the Twila Paris rock song What Did He Die For? Well these things spoken can be heavy and sad you are like my grandfather in helping people be reading when it comes to fools who can't be bothered to lead in such a way their own advice is takeable! Lord have mercy! And some are too busy playing the part of Cain also known as Hitler to know the difference getting out their red Carpet for Hitler and giving the middle finger to my grandfather as an anti American child stabber without a regard to the child's concept of innocence. Again I say Lord have mercy

i did this exam last year and i remember the chênes after the balances and stuff (not the last 3) being a single not a double?

That is likely correct! This video is right after learning the piece for the first time, so there is a good chance I have some details wrong or missed. :)

@@balletbyelysseyou really do have an amazing arch and amazing flow to your dancing but your entire class was doing a double so to be entirely sure, if you are taking the exam make sure to ask your teacher/instructor to double check the syllabus and see if it’s 1 or 2 chênes ☺️

Just a correction on pronounciation - they all have a stress in the last syllable, so you pronounced changement, assemblé and echappé wrong.

Hello! You’re right - no mirror in my at-home studio space :) dancing without a mirror is actually a great training tool for physical awareness and sense of performance, so it’s good to do as often as you can. I do have a speaker, it’s just not on camera 😉

Some lovely executed work here Elysse. You have a lovely poise and and line throughout the body. A few things to watch out for; your feet are sickled in certain places, particularly, when en l'air in adage. Careful not to distort the hip placement during your ronde a jambe en l'air and an arabesque pénche should be at six o'clock. Be mindful not to grip onto the barre too much as it impacts your weight distribution. This syllabus is extremely taxing and so well done for the hard work you put in.

It's not a result of "systemic injustice," it's a simple matter of supply and demand. Not everything is an evil conspiracy foisted on the world by the white male patriarchy. In fact nothing really is.

Prior to the trans contagion that started about 5-10 years ago, trans people represented less .1% of the population. You don't need to carve out a special note for them.

Another note about "allongé" - some of you dancers may recognize it as a choreographic term to describe the arms extending from 4th position - and you're right! A lot of ballet terms are repeated throughout repertoire and exercises when the person is demonstrating entirely different things, and this can get very confusing. Often, it is because the word (in French) is describing an ACTION, not a POSITION, which is the case here for allongé.
