Unfortunately, the tutti entrance after the Cadenza was too loud and covered the piano notes. A pity, because Miss Wang's rendition, though a little too fast (in my humble opinion), was remarkable.
I feel her interpretation is also remarkable, but I feel the orchestra is meant to be stupidly loud in that bit, as its meant to sound apocalyptic (I think).
The orchestra is intended to "drown" her (in her words) at the end of the cadenza. This is my favorite version of the piece - devastating first cadenza. I'm glad it's back, the other link I had stopped working.
No, i just like this at it gives the Power requested for this unsurpased Interpretation, when after this "inhuman" brillant solo part the Orchester emphasises entrance. Simply fantastic❤
An absolutely moving interpretation of this concerto, certainly one of the most important pieces in the entire history of music. This work requires not only exceptional technical mastery, but also an understanding of the message Prokofiev wanted to convey. Yuna Wang's interpretation is absolutely fabulous, transporting us all into Prokofiev's celestial universe. Her technique, phrasing and conception of the work are perfect, and thanks to her masterly performance, we can enjoy a moment of listening that brings us closer to God.
It has happened. I am in love. The first movement is beyond. Extraordinary and completely unexpected. I love Rachmaninov and Scriabin but this is outside of their convention. Wonderful.
Devastating beuaty !!! It is unbelievabel that such a event can take place - I would have been shaken to my very bones had I been there. The composer the pianis ( She is astonishing in her presense ! t the conductor the orchestra ! Wouw!
