Hellom Geoff! As far as I see you did not ride the Charlemagne? May I ask why? Was the low water level the reason? Next week Friday I will start my trip to Vallon Pont d'Arc - I am most anxious about it! Thank you a lot in foreward, kind regards, Werner from Germany
Hi Werner, our instructor felt it was too dangerous in an open canoe so we walked. The kayaks had no problem at all. Water level was rather low. I hope that you have good water. Geoff
@@geoffbearne1007 Hi Geoff! Thank you for your fast reply! Yes, I see.... it is really different to go by open boat. On my kajak I can close the cockpit and get no water inside. Yes, thank you - I hope so! Not too much, but enough to drive comfortable would be great! Have a great time, best wishes, Werner
Hello! Great vid, congrats! Where did you start the tour? Ruoms? I will go to the Ardeche in June. Do you remember the water level in Vallon Pont d'Arc? What camera did you use? I have to buy one cause mine is not good enough for fine vids... Thanks for your reply in foreward and best German regards to the (NOW FREE!!!) Great Britain!!! Werner
Hi Werner, glad that you liked it. We started at Pradons, just upstream of Ruoms. I don't know the measured water level at Pont d'Arc but it was pretty low as you can see in the video. I used two cameras, a GoPro Hero 5 Session (small camera good for helmet) and a GoPro Hero 5 Black. The latter is a better choice as it has a LCD screen and longer battery life. I live in Australia. Cheers.
@@geoffbearne1007 Hello Geoff! Thank you for your fast reply and all the information! Yes, the water level was pretty low - would be good for me - you call me coward... ;-)) - the Ardeche is most lovely and this June I will do it. I will buy this GoPro Hero 5 and will post a vid when I am back! I hope I will not capsize too often.... Best regards to Australia - hope you will win against the fire soon!!!! Werner
hello, where did you rent your canoe? i tried renting a true canoe (mad river or else) but could only find the canoe-kayak sit on top hybrid. I wish i could send my canadian canoe there.
Hello, I rented from Experience Ardeche but they only provide open canoes with a guide (I highly recommend this company). Apparently, a company called Alpha Bateaux has some open canoes and hire them out, but these are not on their website. I think that they require a 500€ deposit and only rent them out if the water levels are good. Perhaps you could try them (canoe@alphabateaux.com).
