All those people buying in the pop-up subdivisions (cheaply constructed) between NB and Seguin beware! Or anywhere off CR 1044. You are buying on farm land and I promise you your house foundation is going to shift so bad you won't be able to sell it. The other side of IH 35 toward the hill is all rock but the housing is much more expensive.
I’m getting ready to move to San Antonio and found your video on RU-vid I’d love to chat with you and see what I’d need to do as a first time homebuyer also my situation is complex so lmk if we can talk via phone call great video thank you 🙌🏻
I'm from England, and planning to move to Boerne in 3 years. It looks perfect, but my one concern is how native texans will think of a foreigner moving to Boerne? If you're from there, please reply what you'd think, because I have read some comments on other videos and some people don't seem to want foreigners to come to their home (understandably), so I'm just wondering. Thanks
I moved to San Antonio about two years ago from Denver...I bought a new build for under $250K and I was super pumped haha. SA has a lot of good things going for it-primarily the people-they are the nicest I've encountered in a big city in the U.S....people say "have a blessed day" and randomly say good morning or good day and are really chatty and courteous. It's actually almost makes you feel like they want something from you lol but they are just nice like that. Traffic is easy to deal with in most parts of the city, the hike and bike trail system (which includes the RiverWalk) are pretty impressive, too. There are a few good museums and great food. The only negative I've found thus far is that it is so spread out, and if you are a single person trying to socialize and meet other professional, single people-it's hard to find them. I find myself going often to Austin or Houston to mingle and network with that demographic....otherwise, San Antonio is perfect if you have a family or are retired!
The company I work for has built 2 and is currently building a 3rd market rate apartment complex to be completed January 2025 in San Antonio. My wife and I will be transferring there in 6 months. We absolutely loved it !
SA residents have year around water restrictions nowadays, possible brown outs when weather gets too cold/hot, homeless population has exploded. SA is severely behind with infrastructure to keep up with the growth.
I have lived in San Antonio for a little over a year after living in the Northeast for most of my life. It has been an adjustment to be sure but I will say it was nice not having to worry about snow and wearing shorts all year. There are definitely a lot of good things to like about here and I really do like the vibe of the people here compared to let's say bigger cities like Houston or Dallas
The traffic in NB is crazy. We can’t wait to move out. I could never understand how so many people can move to this area and only a few out of thousands can actually cook. Besides one in Schertz, we have to drive to Houston for some good food. Local Texans don’t know what good food is. Foodies get foodies.
At this point, Gruene can be considered a neighborhood or district within New Braunfels. It is most definitely not its own town separate of New Braunfels. Maybe it was at one point that was a long time ago.
I used to live in new Braunfels for a little while when I was a kid. Went to school there. Back then it was a German racist town. Don’t know if it still is, but I would not be surprised.
hello @LifeinSATX I'm a young disabled woman, I use a wheelchair and I have controlled asthma Do you recommend me to live in SATX? I'd like to move there some day because in my country (Mexico) doesn't have many facilities for people with disability. Thanks, I discover your channel today, new follower
Hi! Welcome! San Antonio does have numerous and great medical facilities, but every person’s situation is different so I can’t say I specifically recommend it based on health reasons.
Kinda funny to call it fast paced or busy. Maybe relative to what it was in the past, but there's a car every few minutes and a few people here and there but certainly not congested
I live in San Antonio. My question is about energy - with all the growth in the area do we have enough energy resources to keep up with it all? Last summer they kept threatening brown outs and were asking everyone to do their part in turning the thermostat up. A couple of times we went to businesses that were asked to turn their air conditioning completely off during peak hours. What is Texas or Bexar or Guadalupe county doing to provide the resources needed for the explosion of growth in this area?
If you have a family and you like the outdoors DO NOT MOVE TO SAN ANTONIO. Also HOT, and everything closes a 9PM. Things to do: Drink alcohol, go to the movies, go to out to eat. Sure there is all the lame amusement parks... except Schliterbahn that one is dope. Lakes are dry and did I mention its hot! The dating pool is awful if you are single. San Antonio 10 is like an Austin 5. People are nice and values are more conservitive which I think is a plus. The main thing is that if you are an adventurous person there isnt alot. You can only go to Fredericksburg, Kerville, Garner State parke so many times. Plus those are still a little far. I think the best thing within 3hrs is Port Aransas. I have lived here for 30yrs. I am ready to move on.
Lots of investors still buying, especially new construction. Lots of buy and holds with minimal cash flow right now because of interest rates. Reach out if you have any other specific questions or want to discuss neighborhoods! (830)832-2466
@@LifeinSATX Thank you. I will definitely reach out when I’m ready to buy. The San Antonio area is one of the markets I’m interested in. I own 10 acres in San Marcos. My plan was to build a house there and then buy investment properties in around the San Antonio area for mid to long-term rentals to supplement my retirement income. However, my recent divorce just cut me in half financially so I have to work a couple more years.
I live in Schertz, been living in this area since 2005, and went too Schlitterbahn in summer of 2023 and it is overrated. I call it Shitterbahn, it’s packed and the old side has a lot of shutdown areas, and both the new and old side lines are long wait times. I can also say that it’s not just New Braunfels that’s growing, it’s all the surrounding areas of San Antonio. I’ve watched it really grow in the past 20 years.
Yes absolutely it's all true. Don't come here. Awful! I would move today if I could. But the boxes... I'm doomed to remain. Don't let this happen to you. You have been warned!
People are going to hate my comment and probably call me all kinds of names. So, before the backlash starts I will state for the record, I AM NOT RACIST... but the problem is very simple and obvious to anyone from south Texas. Mexicans. Period. And I'm not talking about the native Texan hispanic families who have been here forever, I'm talking about the massive influx of Mexicans who are overpopulation all of the cities and lowering the standards of living and quality of life. Just look at any of the densely populated cities in Mexico, and that is the future of texas.
