As a canon mainly shooter , i had previously a vlux leica and i was astonishedthe quality was better then my r series and was more consistent ofc itsnot an m11 but i love leicas colors
The light leak you're referring to, is probably your shutter not closing all the way after the exposure/swing ends. It's a relatively easy repair/adjustment. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OegdyAGLGhM.htmlsi=MsEyocK87yVrCLZU Not the exact same camera, but I'm guessing it's a similar adjustment. Had the same issue with my Horizon Perfekt, that I just repaired yesterday. This video helped me... 👍🏻🎞️ Nice video by the way.
My advice to introvert street photographers: Take an 40-150mm (80-300m equivalent) lens and a small m43 camera. Then you will be at a very safe distance from everything.
I sold my whole kit to pick up a Q2, and I also live in Toronto. I've been feeling the pain of how you describe the challengers of 28mm photography here😓
I'm in love with Nikon telephoto lens. I have 105mm f2.5, it's looks like perfect long portraiture, and wanna 135 f2 or 180mm f2.8 like short telephoto. It's have something special in color render and scope image.
Thank you for wishing me good luck; I'll make sure it turns out that way. For years, I've been wandering the streets, seeing stories through my eyes. I try to put them in order. I try... Things in my life aren't very stable, but I'm working towards that.
I'm revisiting a lot of your videos right now, and truly, your work stands apart from so many of the current photography RU-vidr's hitting the streets. Your perspective is fresh and considered, engaged and inspired. I hope we get to see some more video work from you soon (and if I ever got a chance to buy a print of 2:26, I definitely would--what a perfect slice of such a surreal scene that feels perfectly like Tokyo).
Great upload man, thanks! I am asking myself; if I only would be able to have 2 lenses on me, for every circumstance. Which one would I pick. Maybe a 28 mm. and a 135 mm. is the answer, after seeing this. Thanks.
When I shoot at events and street I much prefer using a mid telephoto lens to avoid disturbing the scene and getting a more authentic shot of my subject.
Instead of using Horizon or Hasselblad Xpan cameras, I prefer shooting panoramic images on 35mm film in an RB67 medium format SLR. I load 35mm film in two 220 backs to create 24x68mm panoramic images in an RB67. The two backs allow me to carry enough film to avoid using a film changing bag in the field.
I get were your coming from, My photographic interests started in the 1960`s and when I became a photographer later on I learned my craft with film and manual cameras. Controlling the look of an image through your film choice, filters, exposure, processing and printing were/was an amazing experience. Going over to digital never really filled that void from film photography with manual cameras 35mm, medium and large format.. I retired from professional photography and sold all my pro kit I tried quite a few small ish digital cameras some with manual focusing none of them did it for me until I tried Leica, the cameras were so beautifully made and the lenses were some of the best glass I have used and manual focusing. I now use the Leica M9, Leica Q2, and Leica m type 262. Yes they are expensive but to my mind they are the best.
Great video! I have the GRIIIx and I love/hate it for different reasons. :) One question: Do you know what bag/pouches your friend is carrying at minute 7:57? Thanks!
This is so true, and I personally believe that even in western world it's also getting harder nowadays because of privacy concern and many downsides people will be worry that their photos could end up with, it's become uncomfortable for both sides and we can't hardly prove at the time of shooting that we as photographers just love the artistic way of see the world through photos. As a hobbyist, I did streets photography a few times in SE-Asia where I live. As in the video said, many Asian countries people will only have friendly behavior toward tourists taking their photos, but if you're a local photographer, you might get rudely ask, scolds or even get push, the most annoying thing I faced was some people starting to cover their faces when walk pass by me, even though they were like ten meters away. Have to get more creative. I'm more of landscapes cities and woods photography now.
I CAN NOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO. I relate so much and RU-vid is filled with videos of bold street photographers, whcih always made me feel that I lack something, but your video has motivated me and made me feel like I do not lack, I am different. Thank you so much.
I enjoyed this, Ivan - thank you. At the end you said it's all about luck. There's a saying that goes something like: Luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparedness. So let's be sure we're properly prepared.
I LOVE my Leica! Just returned from being on a 32 day road trip with 22,368 images and more than 11,000 were with my Leica. The rest were on my Fuji 100s and 50r
Hong Kong is one of my favourite places I have been. People were friendly, and the city looked like an eye candy. And your video reminds me of how I felt there. I hope I can experience this Hong Kong again some day..and you too..
How many goddamn photos do we need of random strangers walking down the street going about their business? Seriously. There's more to life in the street than simply walking. However that seems to be the primary subject of, so called, street photographers. Show me me something interesting, we've done walking down the street to death.
