Id love to go back to the country lifestyle i grew up with ....as a child i grew up on three acres of land it was like having three whole backyards , but in those yards us kids did work! We planted gardens /watered them , fed the chickens, gathered some eggs (left a few for the mother hen) .. fed the dogs, dug trenches around the trees, pick the weeds out the garden ...i mean we did hard labor as children but it wasnt in an abusive way, we are grateful now as adults ❤❤❤ ..
I talk to my husband about this lifestyle and and he believes that if you grow your communities too big and getting others to leave the idealogy that they dont need to work and contribute to this capitalistic society, somehow the government will find away in to find something your doing wrong to stop you. Id love to join a community of people working together for each other vs 8+ hours working for a corporation. But to leave this lifestyle for that. We've been talking about leaving America and buying land, where lifestyles like this is already common and your land is really yours for generations. What happens when you build a tiny home on your land here and the government starts expecting property taxes. Or starts passing laws to prevent you from growing. I mean, seeds are already patented 😮. I dont want to be negative Nancy cuz i agree with everything you all are establishing but the fears or facts are valid. Id love if yall can make a video discussing this issue. I know in one of the videos Tree was afraid of the government infiltrating yall system. Can we talk about this some more cuz at some point in my life i believe this is what my family will be doing but that is a major concern.....
Lol I can't believe how invested I am to your channel and yall lives. I haven't even watched the show yet but I've binged your youtube videos. If I was single I would have traveled to the garden so fast and considered staying but now married with kids, I at least want to travel to expose my family that there are other ways to live. Huh man just wish me luck cuz it takes a level of open mindedness when introducing this to anyone ❤
First 3 days you can do nothing ..I'd feel bad maybe first day awsom to see people working together helping each other .wow the voice on the guy is awsom and the music 🎵.💚..
A question raised by someone recently at Twin Oaks in that they don't understand why AF was not part of the FEC. My memory -- dimmed by the years -- is that, back in the 70s, EF was a community in dialogue with the Federation. They decided, however, to not apply (much the same as Kerista Village in San Francisco decided not to apply). It's not that they were refused admission. They decided not to join. Seems like I remember someone from AF saying the FEC was just too far away. They were sort of in their own world in Oregon; and I think there was a lack of impetus on their part to get involved with an entity so distant geographically. So they didn't.
Power differential? MIght want to mention how Kat Kincaid had the best, largest room in the community; how she had air conditioning; how she didn't have to do any dishwashing shifts; how she never did any hammock hours; how her job as labor manager never meant that she actually did labor sheets (or much of anything really but sit in the office and drink coffee). To say that the Community does its best with egalitarianism is an embarrassing overstatement. Truth is, some people work hard, and some people do basically nothing.
im 16 and want to live like this so bad😢dont know where to start. so much pressures to go to college start career and family in a big city!! but all i want is to live like this and be peaceful happy away from all the modern world
Just keep watching stuff like this, learn a much as you can, follow your heart, start small, start to garden if you can at home, spend as much time as you can in nature, look at a camper van or camper trailer, tiny home, old school bus etc. 🖤🙏🏼
10:16 there was a creepster in the background, very very very scary. That ginger is not protecting her out there in the wild smh. How are there even no dogs to announce the presences approaching or coming in to the yard. Was that creeper handled or did you just let him walk?
I am legally blind, I wish I could live this way, not having to rely on the government for an income. Being able to live in a community with like minded people. Being able to leave the system behind. Cause America and scosity is going to go straight to shit. People with disabilities are going to truly suffer especially those with extremely bad medical needs. The elderly people are also going to suffer extremely bad. So as a legally blind person I dont see much hope for the future.
Where is this? I just come across this..i want to join! Lol ive been wanting to join a off grid community for so long! I grew up in northern maine hunting and guiding and been a welder/fabricator my whole life. I have a lot to offer just dont know the right people
Man I just watched the show and yowza… the paid actors… the fat slug Tyler declaring he came to community to relax?! lol sending you love from twin oaks ❤❤ they wanted to come here and we said no!
Hello, I am 25 years old and I am from the Outer Banks. I cut grass by myself for a living but I cant seem to get settled anywhere. All of the housing is turning into airbnbs in the summer and I now have to live / work out of my truck. Its very hard. Food is way too expensive and even if i find a place to live its like 1000$ a month in rent. I have lawncare and construction tools (lawnmower, weedwacker, backpack blower, boxes of power tools (drills and saws)) and I think I could be very good help for you guys. I am tired of living like this. I am broke but I will work to live with you guys. I have no family to help me, no friends, nothing. My dream for years has been to move into the mountains away from so many people and I would very very much appreciate an opportunity with you guys. I can talk over the phone with you if you want. My number is 252-401-3437 Looking forward to a reply Thanks -Brian
We are working on our skoolie right now and want to start building inside. We don't want to take out the side and saw you guys didn't do that either, we were wondering if there's wires behind the walls?
So excited to watch the episode on the land trust, there is just not alot of information on this type of thing where i live. Even if i were to buy land i wouldn't bw able to build a home on it
