Hi everyone , my name is Marcus. I was born and raised in Germany but live with my wife in San Antonio, TX. My wife is from San Antonio so she knows the hidden gems of Texas .I explored many countries in Europe as well as many States in the U.S. since 1999. Because me and my wife like to travel we also like to take pictures and video tape for our memories. Most of it what you will see are simple videos of us driving around the San Antonio area , nothing fancy, but that journey doesn't stop there. We have so much to explore together and we would like to share it with you. Thank you everyone for watching.

San Antonio, like any major USA city, has good and bad parts. Also, like most Sunbelt/Southeast cities, it's incredibly sprawling to the point of absurdity. If you can afford to live in areas like Alamo Heights, you can live a great life. SA reminds me of a mini-Houston (highway loops around the city, development along the loop etc.) ....never been to Dallas so I can't compare it.
@texastravelers210

San Antonio is changing quickly . No matter where you go there's construction all over Bexar County. From Freeway expansions to expanding subdivisions . Growths over preserving nature. I also like to mention with this constant growths , that we might face a water supply issue in the near future and end up like cities such as Phoenix, Las Vegas. The droughts are an issue .

My tip for you is to get gas once your tank is half full. Not too many gas stations out there between San Antonio and El Paso. Take plenty of water with you in case of an emergency. There's still civilization between SA and El Paso and you won't be alone on the freeway . No worries.

Never had issues before. One time we had to open the trunk for the officer who was inspecting us but that's understandable. It takes longer to cross the border from Piedras to El Paso. Keep in mind stay on the left lane in Piedras Negras if you are going to cross bride 2 . They will pull you out if you get in front of everyone who's waiting in line. Some people try .

And just think in a few more years its going to be completely gone. I used to go there back in the 80s and 90s and 2000s practically almost every week from Houston and swam and kayaked on every square inch of that Lake. Also lived there for about 4 months back in 2004 renting an apartment but eventually made my mind to move to Montana but now selling my house here to move back to Canyon Lake but not Houston, the winters up here are just too much and there's no restaurants.. .
@texastravelers210
@texastravelers210 19 дней назад
@@reubenmarth7376 I would say Canyon Lake will be among us for quite some time . Medina Lake on the other hand is gone , not more than a creek now. The droughts in South Texas are severe. Many rivers and creeks are dried up , already. It's going to take more than a tropical storm to fill up lakes and rivers. With the ongoing hot and dry summers I haven't too much hope . Also developing new subdivisions isn't solving the already existing issues at all.

We don't expect this channel to grow big since we have a life outside of social media lol . Sometimes I take my phone and just videos tape . I used to have more time but with my job now it's kind of hard to post videos on a regular basis but doesn't mean there won't be any videos in future. There's some change in Windcrest. They got rid of the 4 way stop at the Eagle Crestway intersection and replaced it with traffic lights. Suppose to be faster but I'm not really seeing it .

The Windmill Palm should be on the first list and at the top of that list along with the European Fan Plam.
@texastravelers210
@texastravelers210 Год назад
The Windmill is a good palm for shady areas here in SA but won't do well in direct sunlight when temperatures are in the 90s and 100s . Best palm for SA is Sabal Mexicana, Sabal Palmetto, California fan palm ( washingtonia filifera) , cal mex ( washingtonia filibusta) , pindo ( butia capitata) definitely European fan palm , Mexican fan palm are okay I actually have one in the yard but don't do well like we've seen it in Feb 2021 . Lots of washingtonia robustas died and the ones survived where either hybrids or just lucky. But that winter storm was very different from all other storms so we should be good for the next 50 to 100 years. Mule palms should be good too with occasional protection.
@frankwright8184
@frankwright8184 Год назад
@@texastravelers210 I have seven windmill palms growing in my landscape (full sun) all day and no issues with the heat here in Schertz, Tx. My previous comments were regarding the cold hardiness list.
@texastravelers210
@texastravelers210 Год назад
@frankwright8184 I didn't say they don't grow here but they prefer colder regions to actually look really nice. Trachycarpus Fortunei (Windmill) grow best when they get a chance to cool down at night with low humidity. Our climate here in San Antonio isn't ideal that's why I haven't seen a Trachy with a beautiful full crown here yet and they can get quite large. Anyway this is the most cold hardiest palm you get buy then I would go with Sabal Minor or Needle Palms . For our cold hardiness zone 8b/9a for SA check out the list in my last comment. The problem isn't the overall climate here it's the occasional cold fronds that kills more exotic palms. Oh I forgot to add Canary Island Date Palms but here's the thing they aren't leaf hardy at all.

Nothing amazing compared to every part of Russias Moscow development at every corner and parts of town. Unlike the bull...t that developers select for segregation of the races here. Just compare the Eastside and Southside to the wealthier parts of town. The blind leads the blind.
@texastravelers210
@texastravelers210 Год назад
Not just race but also separation of income but that's not just a phenomenon in SA that's everywhere in the world but hands down we live in a world or even country of opportunities especially in this day and age. If you wait for the government to take care of you, you might be traveling on the wrong train . Success begins with your personality, the way you dress, the way you talk , the way you make decisions etc . Unfortunately not everyone wants to bend over and work hard to be successful. Some people like to live off the government or become criminals just to make easy money faster . That's also why we have these "undesirable " sides in each city . Everybody here in the U.S. gets a chance to make it better but if people don't want to walk the extra mile that's on them. I don't blame nobody for the mistakes I made I'm responsible for my own life . If there's a will there's a way .
