That is correct. If you are concerned about it, you can always remove the cover on the hood and use the screws from Bag L and put screws through back of the hood into the beam behind the roller shade.
Hmm. I'm looking to install an outdoor kitchen using a pergola. We're in the Chicago suburbs. Ideally, it would have shelter from winter colds, rain, maintenance-free, and ideally, I could cook year round on the patio. And of course, it would need to survive 4 seasons in Chicago. Interested in learning about our options.

Thank you, that was very informative. Part B of the question is what is the wind rating of the windscreen, I have not been able to find that information. I would imagine the windscreen would not be able to withstand 120 mph, as when I see videos they look like sails and apparently they have a zipper tie holding it in in the sides
Good question! The screens are rated for a bit over 45mph. What happens after 45mph? The screens can come out of the track. To fix this, you have to reset the screen into the zipper.
Basically, if price wasn’t a factor, I would definitely get the premium product. The warranty alone is solid 15 years! Compared to Costco one year and get what you pay for basically. But most average folks don’t have that kind of money. So you compromise. I think they could probably build one maybe a less warranty that it’s better than Costco but somewhere in the middle then I would buy it if have them install it.

I understand what you are saying about the gutter system except it seems this mean it could direct more water towards my house if, the pergola is next to my home.
The water drains out of a single post on our system. We always recommend placing that post away from the house to make sure the water is directed properly.
The material is not alumawood. In my experience, Alumawood is a roll form aluminum. What that means is that the aluminum is very thin and then rolled into shape. Unless there are significant stiffeners in the core of the alumawood material (more than I’ve seen before) a screen installation would not be recommended. Additionally, adding a screen (even if the core was strengthened) significantly changes the wind load characteristics of the structure and would compromise the structural integrity.

It is the most aesthetically pleasing option. If you don't like that option, you can notch the base collar (quite easy to do) and modify drainage how you see fit.
Is it possible to place flush against a house? Would it be impossible to install the push nuts on the lovers and the link bar if one side is against a wall?

Even your Packaging is outstanding. I was taken back on what to do with all the packaging from my 12'X20'. I kept all the corner pieces and most of the bags figuring might come in handy for something? The cardboard boxes broke down and placed in recycle over a few weeks. Got to order a center beam and 12' screen soon! Will these ever be on sale?
The screens are on sale now! I'm sure we could work something out with the center beam as well if you're buying them together. I'm very glad to hear that you appreciated the packaging. A surprising amount of time and thought went into that aspect of it.
Wattage in this case is Amps x Volts. We focused on the inputs going into a heater. If you just focus on the watt rating, and don't make sure your inputs are right, you will have an underpowered heater, or risk overloading a breaker. A typical 110v outdoor heater will have a rating of 1500 Watts. That means that you're taking 13.6 amps on a single breaker. Most home breakers are about 15 amps (sometimes 20) Big risk of overloading the breaker in the former case.

There isn't a one size fits all answer for that. It is heavily dependent on your state or city. We always recommend asking your local building department. If you want to see what your wind/snow load requirements are for a permanent structure, you can look here: hazards.atcouncil.org/ Make sure you use the value for "ASCE 7-10, Risk Category II". This will give you a good idea of what the requirements are with the unit closed tight (open is irrelevant).

I watched several of the videos from The Luxury Pergola Company and every one of them explains in detail why their product is superior without selling to you or putting down the competition. You can tell that these people really care and really wanted their product to be quality. As you watch their videos, they are actually a company you find yourself wanting to buy from. Unfortunately, like most products in America, if you compare with a "less quality" product manufactured overseas the cost of the American made product is always substantially more. If I could afford it, I wouldn't hesitate a minute to buy from The Luxury Pergola Company...it's obvious that their product is number 1 quality, well thought out, and all of the details have been thought out for superior long term performance. With the current environment of inflation and ridiculous expense of everything from food to new cars to general upkeep of your home I'm like most people and forced to "want" their product, but instead will probably be driven to purchase a lesser product like the Mirador product offered through Wayfair. It's called settling. That's why most of us normal people will keep places like Walmart in business, while places like Macys struggle to stay in business. Even though there is a difference in quality and it is well explained...most of us will choose the cheaper product at the end and "settle". That's why we may all want and appreciate the quality of the BMW or MB, but most of us drive a Camry...the quality if lesser, but a satisfactory level and more affordable. We settle. I really wish these guys much luck and success with their business for pioneering construction of a superior product and making these great explanatory videos...but my pocketbook forces me another direction.

Thank you for the great research. I have a wooden pergola (11 x 15) with two support posts and the opposite side attached to L-brackets to my roof. The pergola roof has 2 by 2 slats separated 2-inches. Do you have a replacement for this type of design so we don't have to deal with posts on the house side?
