In the Guia race, the GT-R's were hobbled by a 140kg weight penalty and no refuelling, which made them very heavy. Facing off against much lighter DTM spec BMW M3's and Mercedes Benz 190E's, they stood no chance at all. Gibson Motorsport were supposedly barred from bringing their GT-R's as well, meaning that Mark Skaife was saddled with a much slower entry. The organisers failed to learn from the changes they made, meaning that there were no incentives for GT-R's to enter the 1992 race and the entry list was lower.
34:13 I was 7 attending this event for the first and only time and was seated somewhere near the camera operator when this accident happened. I’ve been trying to find a replay for decades.
