@@RenegadeRaveArchives Always, been enjoying since you launched that app like 12yrs ago or so, I grew up in East London, Leyton and spent my childhood listening to this stuff and still do. The adverts are another thing that make these sets so valuable too.
Surely music is for everyone to enjoy no matter what it is. Back to the underground scene, if it wasn't for prodigy breaking through and exploiting the charts....their wouldn't be a niche for these independent companies today. Funny enough drum&base/ jungle has never died out....always find a way to re-envent it's self.
It's funny, I remember all the DJs being soooo pissed at M-Beat and General Levi for going commercial, but as soon as they saw the money rolling in they were ALL doing it.

U.S. radio is nothing like this nowadays, wasn't even like this in the 90's I'm pretty sure (maybe it was in the 80's, though, a la the Midnight Funk Association). These guys sound like they're just having an absolute blast.
This was how many pirate radio stations were in the 90s. The banter and the listener interaction was the whole scene. It's what made me fall in love with it.
@@RenegadeRaveArchives Yup, it's what gave it edge over the commercial side of things. With pirate DJs & MCs having the ability to lark around and say pretty much what they wanted, as the listeners we were able to identify with them and saw them as people on our level....not people that preached government political correctness and all that guff.
Pleasure listening to Mark & Jason larking around whilst in their younger years. Both super talented producers in their time and pioneers of the underground scene. Absolutely massive respects to them 👉
The larking around on the mic was what Pirate Radio was ALL ABOUT for me. It was that which made me LOVE the scene. Dance Zone had a few DJs called 'Henry's Cat' - who talked like Henry's cat... and there was 'DJ Chicken and Mushroom Pie'. The banter and the interaction was what made that time so special
