You can use micas, ultramarine color, and natural colors such as plants and clays to color soap. Please check with the supplier to make sure the color is ok to use in cold process soap.

A lot of soap makers use a percentage for determining the amount of water to use. I find it easier to use a ratio. Most of the time I use a ratio of 1:1.7. This means that I take the lye amount and times it by 1.7 to get the water (liquid) amount. Sometimes I will use a ratio of 1:2. This means the water amount is twice the lye amount. I use SoapMaker for my lye (soap making) calculator. Not only is it a lye calculator it also keeps track of my supplies, recipes and so much more. SoapMaker is not free, but the one-time price was more then worth it. There are many free lye calculators available in English, but I am not sure about French. I guess if you do an internet search you will find one. Each of the calculators come with instructions on how to use.

Thank you! If understand the process and safeguards needed for handling lye, then this soap is no different. The worst that can happen is the design does not look good. It still will be useable soap! There are many RU-vid videos that show the basics of soap making.

I've made tons of soap just not on that design level. At some point I believe it transcends soapmaking a d goes into art.

Try it. I have tried many designs and some of them do not turn out as I had in my mind! But that is ok, because these bars are used in our house and by family and friends. Start with a simple design. One of my next videos will be a simple swirl. The video will be published in about 2 weeks.

I love re-purposing containers. The superfat/ lye discount is 4%. For the water and lye amounts I use a ratio, usually 1.7. This means the water amount is 1.7 times the lye amount. To achieve fluid soap when pouring the most important thing is not to use the stick blender too much. Stop blending when it is just mixed. Then divide and color. Then if needed you to stick blend more. This is something that I am always working on! There are many other reasons. Such as your water amount is incorrect, the recipe does not have the correct amount of unsaturated oils, temperature of oils and lye and the scent you use.
