30 years ago when I started Flyfishing I realized Every pro has this attitude of they know everything. It’s almost a corrupt political dogma. The moment I learned that they’re full of shit, I promised myself I would be humble and remain teachable for as long as I was an angler no matter how good I thought I was I just was no better or worse than my fellow angler. Fishing is not Formula One. Fish are alive and we don’t know what they like. We just know what works and I’ve seen some of the ugliest flies catch some of the biggest fish. I also fish in Alaska with my son who is a bass fisherman. Never listen to negative anglers. your passion, gut feeling and time on the water will determine how successful you are. Anyone that has has the ability to be encouraging and help you is a dirtbag if they lie and and give you bad advice. Expensive rods and reels are a waste in fresh water. You would be surprised by the fact the $800 rod you want is exactly the same and made by the Same Company as the $150 rod. For example sage fly rod’s $1100 rod is exactly the same as redington’s cheapest. Also I’m shame on all the Flyfishing snobs that can’t embrace bait casting. That shit is on the same level.
