I saw a video of her when she was young talking to James Baldwin and her face is always so radiant. Like there’s a light shining from unseen place on her
To me when an actor plays a character that looks and acts very different from the actor physically racially i don't really get offended because i'm watching the story and the character the actors jobb is too perform at his/hers best bringing the character to life i don't really care what race it is i care about the story and character not the skin colour hair texture and facial featture
i was hooked the minute i clicked this..feels kismet to come across an artist whose ethos i so heavily f*ck with and feel seen by. deeply appreciative of sT0's use of materials and archiving his environment. i was born and raised in a big city (toronto) with dirtied waterways i too longed to swim in, and much of my work as an artist is about exploring all the archives that hold stories of place, often the ones overlooked/buried/erased etc... love the work with the sanitation residency, i hope to one day do a cool obscure residency somewhere like that-documenting and collaborating with archives of industry/labor and land...so dope!!!
But there are some good police men after James describes the level of police brutality is not conducive to acknowledgement of the severity of the inhalation of basic human rights. I love James Baldwin his voice echoes throughout all of history and will stand the test of time in terms of evolution. His was an enlightened path paved with pain and suffering.
“And I told shorty yo shorty you ain’t even got to go to summer school, just pick up the Wu tang double cd and you’ll have all the education you need this year”
To help climate we should stop consuming so no we don’t need extra art. Where you get art supplies? where you get all materials? That’s right from other places which requires fossil fuels.. how stupid one can be? And to sit there to talk about climate change?? Hypocrisy
