I love creating new needle felted items that are fun and hopefully inspirational. Here on my channel I make beginner's needle felting tutorials or how to guides about my Needle Felting projects. I'm also creating some videos full of tips and techniques where I am trying to metaphorically teach you how to fish rather than just giving you a fish :) I hope you like them and find them useful.
I have full instructions for some of my creations available in my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/JuliesFeltedFriends

Sorry that you're not sure when to stop stabbing, with 2D felting I've found that you don't really have to stab as much, just enough to make sure the wool is attached and has the finish you want. So as long as the wool isn't going to come off and isn't fluffy you should be fine 😊 some felters felt 3D items very firmly, some felt a lot less and leave the wool quite soft. If you want to add fine detail though I find that you need to felt it firmly. Hope this helps, thanks for watching
@@juliesfeltedfriends im gonna be honest and i did not expect for answer. Thank you for answering and that was really helpfull ^^ I really enjoy your videos and you have amazing soothing voice that is pleasant to listen!
Just found your channel tonight and I am so happy I did!, fascinating to listen to and watch while you work. I now have the guidelines to try to make a little Shih tzu as a Christmas gift. Thank you so much, you're a very talented lady x
@@juliesfeltedfriends I hope I can take a few pictures during my make! (Mistakes and all 😳). Can you remind me that there is a FB or Instagram page that I could post pictures?, thanks again for sharing your amazing skills 😘🏴
Oh I love getting photos 😊 feel free to post them on Instagram or Facebook, I'd love to see them: Instagram link: instagram.com/julies_felted_friends/ Facebook: facebook.com/@juliesfeltedfriends
Great fun! Might I suggest that you don’t need to stab that much to transfer the lines….it could be more like a connect the dots if you used a pen or ink fineliner and to mark the holes and then lift the paper and connect the dots….but transferring onto felt is a tedious process no matter what! Your result was beautiful! What kind of felt did you use as the canvas?
Thanks for this suggestion, that's sounds like a good solution, yes it can be tedious 😊 the canvas was an ordinary white square of felt that I bought. I did mean to buy some pure wool felt but didn't have chance, so this wasn't a pure wool felt square. Thanks for your comments and for watching
I really don't think I ever would have been able to learn this hobby before RU-vid existed. Your videos provide so much more information, tips/tricks, and encouragement than any book ever could. You've even taken the time in videos to demonstrate what correct size needles should SOUND like! I've been wanting to learn to felt for quite some time, but how that I have access to such amazing quality and content in your videos, I have the courage go actually start!
Thank you. I am an artist, painting....but this us a real big challenge. Getting there but just takes time to get better. C a n you do one that shows how to use the glue(or whatever it is) to have it look like short hair animals. Thanks again!!!!
Yes it can take time to get better, but it's worth it, keep going you'll get there 😊 I'm not sure what you mean by glue, one technique to create a short haired animal is to use a reverse felting needle, I demonstrate using one in this video on various needles: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X54z83J7mx8.html Hope it helps, and thanks for watching
You say cheating like you’re taking part in the Olympics of needle felting and have to follow a set of rules. Most people do this just for fun or as a business which I don’t think implies cheating the same way
i bought this sort of kit 4 years ago when i started, along with some other more expensive bits from my local fibre store and it’s still going strong! i used up the neutrals quick as a beginner, but i still have loads of neons. i definitely see myself ordering another bag when this one runs out as it’s so nice to have random colours when you need it here and there.
Am on super tight budget so don't want to use spinnable top for the guts. Should I wet felt the rough bad ram fleece or wind it tight on armature? Was so angry about bad purchase needle felted it in guts of a Dove. That level of anger is not sustainable. I have been inspired by you and others but have to scale down for finances and isn't working smoothly
You can use cheaper wool for the core and wrap it around an armature, you shouldn't need to wet felt it though, just needle felt it. I'm glad you're inspired, please don't give up, I hope you find my tips helpful, thanks for watching
Hey Julie, I hope you are doing well. Can you explain how I can make the mouth and the other features in the head to be moveable as you showed at the end of the video for stop motion? I know it might be a hard question, but I will appreciate any explanation.
Hi there, thanks for this, I made a frame out of wire for the mouth of the spider at the end of this video, so that it was moveable, the eyes are made from polymer clay and placed into a socket that I felted so they are loose and easily moved. When you make the eyes out of polymer clay make sure you put a pin hole in the pupil so that you can animate them easily. I explain this a bit more near the end of this short video here: ru-vid.comqhXwrTVPSLY?si=igqHRAou9oyp0gBN I have been meaning to finish a cat that I wanted to animate but haven't got round to it yet, sorry about that 😊 hope this helps and thanks for watching
You do a GREAT Job on your videos. I've watched three and can't get enough. They are educational for beginners and fun to watch. Well done. I love your voice.
Extremely great tutorial with many “aha” moments. Now I must see if the ahas can translate into results. Julie…thank you for sharing your sage pointers…and encouragement. On beyond zebra! ❤
