Hey man, did you ever find out the drivers floor board issue? I have a 2015 as well same two leaks as you. Fixed the trunk no sun roof can’t find the floorboard leak.
It's the vent in the trunk. Once you pull it out you can see where the seal is. For whatever reason it doesn't seal anymore. So put the silicone on that seal. Slide it back in through the hole and pull it into the trunk locking it in place
So is the water supposed to go behind were the light has a rubber corner in side the trunk channel hope that makes since at the top of the light there’s a rubber corner but doesn’t sit flush on the metal of the car is it supposed to or is the water supposed to run behind it ??
Thank you... This is so frustrating! I've tested the trunk... Water doesn't seem to be getting in from the outside. My family and I have tested this several times. Thanks again. I'll try it again.
@@FullblastNikita make sure you check out both my videos on this. Also there's two other things that are leak issues on these cars. One if you have a sunroof.. the drainage areas leak. Also around the tail light. The gasket wears out. Sometimes you can just tighten it. On a newer Malibu I heard there's also an issue around the third light. The center brake light
My brother owns a 2017 Malibu Turbo. He lives in San Diego and when it rains he gets water in his trunk, a lot of water. The dealer was unable to find the problem after checking the tail light gaskets. He took one more look at the problem and discovered that the trunk vents open at the slightest of air movement. So he taped over the opening for the bottom 3 vents leaving the top vent opening uncovered. All 4 vents still open and close together but now water doesn't have the ability to leak into the trunk when there is water on the road from rain. Instead of the water leaking into the trunk it runs back out the bottom of the vent. The air pressure in the cabin is still released from the heater/air condition when it not in recirculation. When closing the doors or trunk the air pressure is still released. He also experienced less road noise. This solved the issue of water getting into his trunk. I hope this helps others with the same issue. I was unable to find anyone resolving this problem. Please post your result using this fix.
Black engine permatex. But any real automotive silicone should work. It shouldn't get any real heat back there. But I believe the black gives it a stronger hold and it's more heat resistant.
I have the wet trunk/spare tire area to. Will check this out. Thanks for posting it. I also found a service bulletin for 2013 for the same issue, they say to check the pressure relief valves, also the trunk LIDS liner, check to make sure that the edge of it is not closing on top of the seal, that would also give you a leak.
If you find out that it is the trunk pressure valve then check out my other video that shows you how to fix it. And if you can please like and subscribe to my channel. Thank you
@@ProwlersPit also since we have the same car. This happened to me. when you come to a stop and the car shuts off, when the car restarts and your touch screen goes blank, youll need to replace the start stop module, happened to me and couldnt figure it out since the car always restarted no problem. Turns out the start stop function draws from the cars regular battery, and all accessories stay on with the use of the small trunk battery which is controlled by the start/stop module. So car will restart but radio wont stay on when that restart happens. Module was around $200. Other then that the only issue I ever had with mine was it dropped #2 fuel injector on me driving down the highway, car has treated me well otherwise.
You don’t know how much this has helped me. I have a 2013 and I don’t drive it often due to driving company car so I was surprised to see 7 to 8 inches of water in my trunk under tire and soggy driver back side floor and unfortunately mold and condensation. I was horrified since it sits and all windows was up we cleaned entire car twice only to still not understand were all the water was coming from so thank you Sir thank you
@@jakobalday7978 my Malibu has continued to be dry. Those valves were definitely the issue for me. The only two other things that I found that could cause it as well. According to other people. Is either a clogged sunroof. Or the tail light gasket.
@@NoU303 you're welcome my friend. I'm glad I was able to help. On a side note I might even fixed the water that was going on the driver side floorboards as well. I don't know for sure but not only is there not water in the trunk but there's no water on those floorboards either. But I got to do more testing to be sure.
