Same problem and same laptop I was with very virus in this laptop and one day I was search things on google and bang turn off but battery was fine , now I will fix it and I tell you something
That's a known issue on those. The cable from the power button to the main board becomes bad over time. Sometimes you can open the screen up all the way and put a little pressure on the screen and it will turn on. Replacing the cable clears that up.
OK , so I was working on the same laptop gateway nv52, and I replaced the motherboard and cpu amd, and i was getting the same damn problem, so I when a little further, found out that the COM battery bay is say toodamn small. I did a raw boot test with the stupid thing after taping the stupid COMs battery down and BAM the think works just fine. check your COMs batter under the top part of the laptop, is on the motherborad near the mouse pad, that stupid thing caused a crap top of problems
@@Davysguru a COM battery is the on board batter for the bios. On the motherboard. It used to save the bios settings and ROM of the BIOs. Think of it like this it has the same symptoms of a computer with a dead CPU, the system will power on but there a power light and nothing else the system will not even post. The same thing if the com battery is missing or if there is empty slots in the ram slots.
i had the same problem : there is a mechanism that keeps your laptop from cutting on while its closed , to reset it, you open your laptop as far as it will go (normally about 135 degrees instead of the normal 90 degree angle) and then power it up - your just resetting a safeguard.
Yeah it was the wire inside, When you open the lid, it pulls the wire out. The wire runs from the right of the case (power button to middle of top keyboard), that is loose) or the button is not connected properly at the side. To test this theory, simple, touch both wires together and you will see the laptop turns on.
