Hello world! My name is Geoff and I like to make stuff out of whatever I can get my hands on. I also renovate houses now and again. I like videoing the process and sharing it by putting the results up here. Thanks for watching!
Basically, yeah Due to climate change trees grow faster now on average, meaning wood from the same species of tree, grown for the same amount of time, is softer and weaker the more recently it was harvested in my experience recently harvested 30ish year old oak is about the same strength as old-growth yellow pine that was harvested between 100 to 50 years ago
@@MrGeoffreySmith thank you for the reply. Im a plasterer by trade so don't know much about timber but this is great to learn. In retrospect I should have picked joinery
Tricks are good indeed! The house is a lovely well lit warm cat Zanadu. We quite like it. Please let me know if you cross the pond, I’d love to show you the house. You’d have a sweet guest room to stay in!
In an open, street market, you need to b careful of what you buy and especially what you pick. You will be getting sick on what you eat later, my friend
Poster 😂🤬 for why time to properly pack up and put away tools after a job is so important. Sadly often overlooked. Whether by cheap bosses or laziness.
dang man India looks just as hectic as ever. reminds me of Bangkok and a little bit of Manila but I've never really thought of going to India - how do you rate it?
The cities are as mad and unruly as you'd expect. People everywhere and they are all trying to sell you something. There is something of history everywhere.
Interestingly if you're replacing a fire door, you don't need either closers of any kind or intumescent strips on ground floor domestic properties, if they didn't have them previously. 3 x 4 inch hinges is what I was unsure of. Not sure you'll read this on a 3 year old video. I like the pop up table who makes that please. Ta.
The firedoor was replacing a standard domestic door. Requested by the rental company. The table is really handy and it's from Worx. Always read a comment 😆
I’m going to make rocking chairs with no glue. Key hole and force and twist hot moist wood into a corresponding hand chiseled slot in another piece. Gravity will hold em together. If any one else does this please post vids. Cheers
@@MrGeoffreySmith It’s mind boggling when you think of the history that’s occurred around the world in the last 1000 years and that creation has stood the test of time and seen millions, if not billions of journeys up and down those steps. Thanks for sharing big man.
@@MrGeoffreySmith Increased demand from the world’s biggest expanding population? Aging pipe work infrastructure from it? Diverting of water sources that would fill aquifers? Years ago I worked as an engineer in a big hospital, one day they discovered (and couldn’t understand why) that the cold water storage tanks could no longer meet the hospitals needs. I had to explain that when you keep adding just one more wing, just one more building, just a thousand more patients, five hundred more staff and “value engineer” the building costs right down, this stuff happens!
Sir please confirm the map first, then make videos, you ignorant people of west say anything as you like. As in this video you connected the border of Nepal with Pakistan and Afghanistan which is hundred's of kilometres away from each other.
I was pointing in the direction of the countries. Of course there are hundreds of kilometres inbetween. I thought that was obvious. Its quite ironic to be called 'sir' in one breath and 'ignorant' with another.
@@MrGeoffreySmith Aye it adds up. It was stripping old armoured cable and other weigh ins that kept me fed during the 2008 recession. Have a good un 😊👍🏻
I am thinking of using these panels for a brick WC outhouse. Can these be applied in staggered fashion to save on the off cuts, and reduce the number of panels to be putchased, or should they be applied in single lengths?
🤣🤣🤣 hey our skin is waterproof, never use rain as an excuse lol. Glad to see it works :D Good shot as well. Was that the first attempt or 100 off camera we never saw lol 👌🏼👌🏼
@MrGeoffreySmith I was just making a joke about the day to day trials we men put ourselves through. I wasn't questioning your intelligence in the scenario. But thank you for clarifying on how it happened, looks like a pain to clean up.
Yeah yeah, yeah don't quit your day jobs because neither one of you would make it as a stand up comedian seriously get a grip and go back to the video games instead of harassing grown folks taking care of serious business here or set back and learn something from your elders now!
Hey mate. What specific tools are these to buy I have the dadoe all over my lific room so ig u let me know ill get to work. Also let me know the filler u use pleade
The existing had hardly any overhang, which was one of the reasons for putting a cover on it. The cover was about 5mm thick so that added to the existing gave an ok amount of overhang.
