New to Lyle Mays and the Pat Metheny Group, but I just have to say how awesome of a sound he creates here. Somewhere between cool jazz and RnB, but also evocative of an epic 50's ballad with those strings. Great piece of music; thank you for transcribing!
very interesting what you just said. This tune is indeed very modern and at the same time, not quite that. To me it's the combination of the phrasing and the groove. I guess it certainly does not fall in the usual traps of modern stuff, sometimes too technical. It most likely emphasizes great composition skills and tastes
Hey....this is great! Nice job, transcribing Jimmy Johnson's very musical bass solo in readable fashion, AND, making the pages turn with the video! I've already watched this over a dozen times, and I'm sure I'll be enjoying it a lot more....
